Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Diverse Learners Teacher to join the KIPP Indy team. KIPP Indy Diverse Learners Teachers ensure students with disabilities have access to rigorous, joyful learning experiences and the individualized support they need to thrive. Diverse Learners Teachers provide specialized instruction, serve as case managers for students with IEPs, and partner closely with general education teachers, families, and school leaders to create inclusive learning environments where all students can achieve at high levels

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Serve as case manager for an assigned caseload of students, ensuring the timely implementation, progress monitoring, documentation, and revision of IEPs to reflect students’ individual needs, progress, and required supports.  * Design and deliver specially designed instruction aligned to students’ IEPs and individual needs through:

1. General Education/Inclusion: Co-teaching, push-in support, and targeted small-group instruction.  2. Special Education/Resource: Specialized direct and small-group instruction targeting specific skill deficits and IEP goals.

* Regularly assess and track student progress toward IEP goals, adjusting instruction as needed to promote academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth.  * Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning environments that support all learners.  * Strong understanding of behavior management strategies and interventions.  * Use data-driven decision-making to provide targeted interventions and specialized support.  * Provide students with appropriate accommodations and modifications in the classroom and during assessments.  * Build trusting partnerships with students and families, ensuring they are informed and meaningfully engaged in IEP development, student progress, and decisions about student support.  * Participate in case conferences and IEP meetings, ensuring all required documentation is complete and accurate.  * Work with school leadership and the special education team to comply with all federal and state regulations and deadlines related to special education services.  * Stay current on best practices in special education instruction, behavior management, and accommodations.  * Embrace and incorporate feedback to continually improve instructional practices.  * Participate actively in ongoing coaching, observation and feedback cycles, team learning, and required professional development; implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice.

EXPECTATIONS

* Arrive at school by 8:10 a.m.  * Attend professional development, including summer onboarding.  * Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings.  * Fulfill all expectations outlined in the KIPP Employee Handbook.

Qualifications

* Valid Indiana teaching license with Special Education certification or eligibility ligibility and willingness to obtain appropriate licensure through an approved pathway (required).  * Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in special education or a related field/ transition program (required).  * Minimum of 2 years of experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting (preferred).  * Strong knowledge of state and federal special education regulations, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (required).  * Experience in writing and managing IEPs (preferred).  * Proven track record of helping students with disabilities succeed academically, behaviorally, and socially (preferred).  * Commitment to the KIPP Indy mission and the Indianapolis community (required).  * Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required).

Additional Information

Licensed teacher starting at $50,000 Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
