Senior MySQL Database Administrator

The role We are looking for an experienced MySQL DBA to own the full database lifecycle: day-to-day administration, high availability and failover, performance tuning, and optimization of SQL queries and stored procedures. You will be the single go-to database specialist for the organization.
Key responsibilities
* Work within fast iteration cycles to help ship reliable, high-quality products
* Build and maintain database infrastructure hands-on
* Take ownership of every database environment: development, staging and production
* Handle administration topics such as security, replication and failover, backups and performance tuning
* Handle design topics such as schema structure, indexing strategy, and query and stored procedure design
* Introduce and promote suitable tools, procedures, best practices and architectural standards
* Review specification documents carefully to identify edge cases and unusual scenarios early
* Collaborate with development, QA and DevOps teams
* Grow into the in-house database authority
* Coach developers and QA engineers on database best practices
Requirements
* 5+ years of experience as a DBA, including at least 3 years specifically with MySQL
* Hands-on experience with failover, security, performance optimization and backup/recovery
* Hands-on experience with database design, testing and maintenance
* Ability to work independently as the only DBA in the company
* Scripting experience (Python, Bash)
* Strong troubleshooting skills and a structured approach to root cause analysis
* Good written and spoken English (mandatory)
Nice to have
* C++ development experience, especially connecting to MySQL from C++ code
* Background in financial markets or trading (e.g. FIX protocol)
* Experience with Jira, SVN and Jenkins
