Job Description
As a Researcher you will aid in the production of the daily broadcast. You will work directly with the editorial teams of the 3rd Hour of TODAY and TODAY broadcast.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a short term position with an estimated duration of 12 months or less, unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.
Job Duties:
* Gathering elements for live segments and identifying the best editorial content * Working with an editor * Pitch story ideas * Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and on team projects * Strong awareness of NBC News programs, talent, policies, guidelines and practices * Demonstrated strong knowledge and interest in news and current events * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with all levels of management and talent * Flexible, organized, self-starter, and extremely detail-oriented – able to seek out answers and resources on own * PTO coverage for other positions as needed
Qualifications
* At least 2 years of news experience production and/or administrative experience * Must have strong editorial judgment * Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communication or a related field * Exceptional computer skills with proficiency in MS Office Suite and social media * Must be able to work in New York City * Willing and able to work flexible hours, under tight deadline pressure, including breaking news. * Ability to work overtime, and weekends as needed * Must be willing to adhere to all company workplace safety policies and protocols
Desired Characteristics:
* Proactive thinker with understanding of how to apply data * Experience with creating research data * Knowledge of iNews, Media Central, VPost, Newsconnect and/or editing software * Experience shooting with SLR cameras * Experience working with digital editorial teams
Additional Requirements:
* Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
What we’ll offer: Production Employee (PEP) Regular who works more than 1,000 hours per measurement period:
* Eligible for 401K after 1,000 hours worked in 12 consecutive months * Eligible for Health and Welfare benefits on 1st day of employment * Eligible to participate in Employee Stock Purchase Program after 90 days of employment
Salary Range: $26.00/hr - $31.00/hr
