About the role
Job Description
Lead day-to-day operations of our managed OpenShift service, part of a fleet of Openshift clusters for several enterprise customers.
Who we are: We are T-Systems’ Managed Container Platforms team. We run Red Hat OpenShift as a managed service across multiple data centres and Open Telekom Cloud, with a SUSE Rancher service alongside. Customers include regulated banks and health insurers, so audits and compliance are part of everyday work.
How we work: Our installation team builds new platforms and hands them over to operations, which runs them under ITIL processes in ServiceNow. We are designing Zero-Touch Operations The team is growing, with open roles from junior to expert.
As an Operations Manager, you own how the service runs every day: reliability, SLAs, escalations and the operations team that delivers them. You connect engineering, operations, partners and customers, so work and ownership never fall between teams. It is a leadership role with real influence: you set operational priorities with the Global Service Owner and report service performance to senior management every month.
In this position, you will:
* Own SLAs and incident, problem and change management across the fleet, including major incidents and the monthly KPI report. * Lead the operations team day to day: priorities, escalation coverage, coaching, performance and hiring. * Make ownership explicit with RACIs, OLAs and escalation paths across installation, network, storage and application teams and partners. * Run a clean build-to-run handover and turn recurring operational pain into engineering backlog items. * Drive our Zero-Touch Operations roadmap: automated upgrades, patching and certificate handling. * Keep the fleet audit-ready for regulated customers: CVE and vulnerability management and audit evidence (e.g. ISO 27001, BSI C5, SOC 2). * Bring AI into operations where it pays off, such as incident correlation and vulnerability prioritisation. * Act as senior escalation point for customers: lead service reviews, onboard new customers, steer transitions and recover at-risk relationships.
Qualifications
Requirements:
* 5+ years leading IT operations or service delivery, including people management of technical teams. * Solid working knowledge of Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes in a managed-service setting, enough to challenge engineers and vendors. * Deep ITSM practice under ITIL 4: incident, problem, change and major-incident management, ideally in ServiceNow. * Experience with regulated customers and external audits such as ISO 27001, BSI C5 or SOC 1/2. * A track record of stabilising a struggling service, shown in better SLA, MTTR or incident numbers. * An automation mindset: you have driven IaC or GitOps adoption with tools such as Terraform, Ansible or Argo CD. * Fluent English and confidence presenting to customers and senior management.
Advantages:
* Multi-cloud operations on AWS, Azure, GCP or Open Telekom Cloud. * OpenShift Virtualization or Red Hat OpenStack Platform. * ITIL 4 Strategic Leader certification. * Hands-on use of AI in operations, for example AI-assisted triage or CVE prioritisation. * Agile delivery at scale, such as Scrum Master or SAFe ART roles. * Vendor, contract and budget management.
