About the role

Job Description

This role is based in our Newton, MA office.

CIO Dive is seeking a staff reporter eager to learn and grow while delivering timely, insightful coverage of the IT industry. In this role, you’ll enter the dynamic world of business technology and strategy, writing briefs, articles and features that help tech executives navigate the ever-evolving landscape.

You’ll work closely with a team of experienced journalists who will provide guidance and mentorship as you develop engaging coverage, whether it’s a quick-turn earnings analysis or a deep dive into an emerging technology.

This is your opportunity to build your skills and establish your voice in the industry. You’ll pitch story ideas, build strong industry connections and chase down stories that matter most. Reporting directly to CIO Dive’s editorial director, you’ll have an opportunity to shape coverage and make an impact as you grow your career.

What you’ll do:

* Develop source relationships with CIOs, organizations and analysts relevant to your beat * Pitch story ideas and work with editors to refine angles * Write an average of 5 items per week, of varying length and depth * Identify and support team coverage of key storylines * Produce a daily newsletter alongside your team — reporting, writing and editing every day in a collaborative fashion * Work as a team player to support CIO Dive's ambitious goals

Qualifications

* Strong portfolio of reporting and writing skills * Ability to build relationships with sources and report on complex subjects * Some experience interpreting and analyzing business and financial news, trends and concepts * Deadline-oriented time management skills; ability to turn around stories on tight deadlines * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced news environment — reporters might need to quickly pivot to cover emerging news * Bachelor's degree or better in journalism, English or similar field * IT coverage or translatable financial reporting experience preferred.
