Job Description
Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care. Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family. Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team. Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: BSN preferred. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans. Ability to perform a wide variety of professional nursing services. Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, and hospital personnel. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing. Health care provider certification (BCLS). RN Lactation Consultant: IBCLC certification must be acquired within 12 months of hire & maintained.

5A Neuroscience Stepdown Unit: Henry Ford Providence Novi Hospital is a nationally certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, equipped 24/7 to manage the advanced surgical and medical needs of our patients. An integral part of being a stroke certified hospital is the Neuroscience Stepdown Unit – 5A. This is a 16-bed telemetry unit. Patients on this unit have experienced a wide range of neurosurgical and neurological disorders including stroke, seizures, trauma, and spinal conditions requiring surgical intervention. Nurses on this unit are NIHSS certified, manage lumbar drains, JP/Hemovac drains, wound vacs, drips, and work closely with our therapy services. This unit also serves as an overflow unit for patients requiring stepdown care for non-neurological conditions, enhancing the clinical experience for nurses.
