About the role
Davidson Charter Academy is seeking a full-time Kindergarten Teacher Assistant to join our team!
We are looking for a dependable, energetic, and caring individual who enjoys working with young learners. The Teacher Assistant will work closely with the classroom teacher to support instruction, help students build foundational skills, and create a positive, engaging classroom environment. The ideal candidate is flexible, collaborative, and knowledgeable about child development and effective instructional practices.
Responsibilities
* Assist with whole-class instruction and lead classroom activities as directed. * Work with individual students and small groups to reinforce skills, provide additional support, and offer enrichment. * Prepare and organize instructional materials and classroom resources. * Help students stay engaged and participate in classroom activities. * Monitor student progress and maintain records related to academic and behavioral goals. * Grade assignments and record results as directed by the classroom teacher. * Collaborate with the teacher daily to address student needs and support classroom routines. * Supervise students in the classroom, on the playground, during transitions, and throughout the school day. * Reinforce school rules, behavior expectations, and safety procedures. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support students, teachers, and school operations.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or GED required; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in education or a related field preferred. * At least one year of experience in an educational or childcare setting required. * CPR and First Aid certification preferred. * Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills. * Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families. * Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting young children’s academic and social development.
Pay & Benefits
* Pay: $16 per hour. * Potential 3% local supplement. * Employer 403(b) contribution match of up to 6%. * 10 PTO days per year, with unused time rolling over until the maximum accrual is reached. * Paid holidays. * Medical insurance available with an employer contribution toward premiums. * Employer-funded long-term and short-term disability coverage.
Pay and benefits are prorated based on start date, where applicable.
This position offers a one-year contract, with renewal contingent upon performance, fulfillment of job responsibilities, and available funding.
Compensation: $16 per hour
