About the role
Nuclear Technologist Location: Schamburg and Oak Park, IL Employment type: PRN ~6-8 hours/week
Job purpose The Nuclear Technologist is responsible for preparing and administering radioactive pharmaceuticals to patients, using imaging equipment to view the distribution of pharmaceutical through the body to aid in the diagnosis of patients under doctor supervision.
Duties and responsibilities • Ready patients for testing through the preparation of radioactive pharmaceuticals, explaining testing process and answer questions patient may have • Inject patients in accordance with pharmaceutical specifications • Monitor patient visits, respond to patient needs and in emergency situations • Use of imaging equipment to view distribution within patient’s body • Produce quality images for physician use in diagnosis and treatment of cardiac, circulatory conditions • Maintain a neat and sanitary work environment • Clean and maintain exam rooms ensuring they are stocked with clinical supplies and equipment • Travel between locations as needed to ensure appropriate staffing • Perform clerical duties including scanning, faxing, filing and chart prep as needed • Other duties as assigned to assist in the operation of the clinic.
Qualifications Technologists must be courteous, professional and have excellent customer service skills including verbal and written communication needed for patient and staff in a fast-paced environment, be able to calm a nervous patient.
• High School Diploma/ GED • Current BLS certification • Professional Certification - Board Certification – CNMT, RT(N), IL Radioactive License, IEMA • Knowledge of imaging devices, EKG abnormalities • Use of PC, software programs (EMR), telephone, knowledge of medical terminology
Working conditions The Technologist typically works in an office/clinical environment, with a team.
Physical requirements Lifting: may lift up to 50 lbs. Push/ Pull: ability to move a portable EKG machine on a wheeled cart- up to 20lbs. Standing, walking, sitting: Frequently alternate between Sitting, standing and walking Use of hands and arms/ reaching/ grasping/ fine manipulation of fingers Vision, hearing, speaking needed for interaction with physicians, clinical staff and patients
