About the role

The 2027 IIHF World Junior Championship is hitting the ice at Westerner Park, and we want you to be part of the team behind the action!

Westerner Park is proud to host World Junior Hockey from December 26, 2026, to January 2, 2027, at the Marchant Crane Centrium. This exciting international event will bring world-class junior hockey to Red Deer and put our community on the international stage.

We are recruiting Concession Attendants to join our event team and help deliver an exceptional experience throughout this major event. These are temporary positions for approximately 10 days.

Position Overview

The Concession Attendant plays an important role in supporting the successful delivery of events by providing friendly customer service, preparing and serving food and beverages, processing transactions, and maintaining clean and welcoming concession areas for guests.

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Operations, the Concession Attendant supports daily concession operations, maintains high service standards, and contributes to positive guest experiences in a fast-paced, event-driven environment. This casual position is scheduled on an as-needed basis, with hours varying based on event schedules and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Assistant Manager, Food & Beverage Operations, the Concession Attendant is responsible for the following:

* Provide exceptional customer service by greeting guests, responding to requests, and creating a positive experience for all customers.

* Prepare concession stands for opening by setting up food items, beverage stations, displays, and service areas.

* Prepare and serve food items such as hot dogs, popcorn, and other concession products according to established standards.

* Set up and maintain non-food service items, including cups, napkins, utensils, condiments, and other supplies.

* Ensure equipment, counters, and workstations are cleaned, sanitized, and ready for use before, during, and after service.

* Process customer orders accurately, operate point-of-sale systems, receive payments, and provide correct change.

* Follow established cash handling procedures and maintain accuracy when processing transactions.

* Maintain product levels by monitoring inventory and restocking items such as beverages, condiments, and concession supplies as required.

* Maintain basic knowledge of concession products and menu offerings to effectively assist guests.

* Maintain cleanliness and organization of concession areas throughout each shift.

* Follow Westerner Park policies, procedures, and food safety standards.

* Maintain a professional appearance by following uniform requirements and personal hygiene standards.

* Support team members and adapt to changing event requirements by completing other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Bring

* Previous cashier, concession, food service, or customer service experience is considered an asset.

* Experience processing customer orders and handling cash transactions.

* Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide friendly and professional guest service.

* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.

* Ability to follow direction, prioritize tasks, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and service standards.

* Ability to adapt to changing priorities and event requirements.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on event schedules and operational needs.

* Reliable and punctual with a strong commitment to providing excellent guest experiences.
