About the role
Job Title
Advanced Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Job Overview:
In this role, you have the opportunity to be responsible for the design and lifecycle management of CT Cooling Units (e.g., CU4500 / CU6200 / Compact CU), acting as a key technical owner to drive design decisions, failure analysis, and cross-functional integration to ensure product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
Your role:
Cooling Unit Design & Development
* Design and develop Cooling Unit mechanical systems (pumps, piping, heat exchangers, structural components) * Lead design trade-offs considering performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability * Deliver complete design packages (3D/2D drawings, BOM, technical specifications, interface definitions)
Failure Analysis & Issue Closure
* Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for field and internal failures (e.g., pump issues, flow performance, leakage, control-related issues) * Perform data-driven failure analysis and define clear technical conclusions * Drive CAPA actions including design improvements, supplier corrections, and validation activities * Support quality processes (e.g., PR investigations and escalations)
System Integration & Interface Management
* Own the integration of Cooling Unit within CT systems (Generator / Tube / Gantry interfaces) * Define and manage key system interface parameters (flow rate, pressure, thermal load, etc.) * Support system-level validation and issue troubleshooting
Supplier & Manufacturing Support
* Provide technical interface to key suppliers (e.g., pumps, thermal components) * Support supplier issue resolution and engineering change reviews * Support NPI and mass production activities, including addressing manufacturing deviations and failure trends
Verification & Validation
* Define verification strategies for Cooling Unit (performance, durability, boundary conditions) * Analyze test data and drive design optimization * Ensure proper closure of DV/PV activities
Cross-Functional & Global Collaboration
* Collaborate with global teams (e.g., Hamburg, MR, Generator teams) on design alignment and IP considerations * Support field escalations and FSE feedback loops * Participate in technical reviews (Design Reviews, CAPA reviews)
Expected Deliverables
* Cooling Unit design package (CAD models, drawings, BOM, specifications) * Failure analysis reports with RCA and supporting data * CAPA implementation and tracking documentation * Verification plans and test reports * System interface definition documentation
You're the right fit if:
Technical Skills
* Strong mechanical / thermal / fluid system design capability * CFD tools: ANSYS Fluent * Solid understanding of liquid cooling systems (pump, heat exchanger, flow control) * Proven failure analysis capability (data-driven RCA) * Basic simulation capability (CFD / thermal analysis is a plus)
Experience
* Typically, 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience * Experience in product development and field issue resolution (beyond pure design)
Cross-functional Capability
* Ability to independently drive complex issue closure across design, quality, and suppliers * Clear technical communication, including management-level reporting * Strong ownership mindset with end-to-end accountability
Role Expectations
* Acts as subsystem owner or module lead * Makes technical decisions under uncertainty * Provides clear conclusions and recommendations, not just analysis
Role Positioning
* Not a pure design executor, but a technical owner and problem solver * Core contribution lies in driving issue resolution and engineering decisions * Cooling Unit subsystem ownership * Leading critical failure investigations and CAPA closure
