About the role
Title: Azure Security Architect Location: Kansas, USA. Remote with periodic participation in project and governance meetings. Contract
Responsibilities
* Review and challenge solution architectures, designs, and implementation plans. * Assess solutions for security, resiliency, governance, and operational readiness. * Evaluate identity, access management, networking, data protection, logging, monitoring, and third-party integrations. * Conduct architecture and security reviews at key project milestones. * Identify risks, control gaps, and remediation recommendations. * Support audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements related to finance systems. * Assess ERP/GL, subledger, FP&A, reporting, data platform, integration, and identity/access designs for security and control implications * Maintain security risks, decisions, assumptions, and control gaps in alignment with program RAID, decision log, and governance processes * Partner with Finance, Infrastructure, Governance, Compliance, Project Management, and external vendors. * Provide executive-level summaries, risk assessments, and recommendations.
Required Experience
* 10+ years of enterprise architecture and cloud experience. * 5+ years designing and governing Microsoft Azure environments. * Strong cybersecurity architecture background, including Zero Trust and cloud security. * Experience with large transformation programs, ERP/GL implementations, or finance system modernization. * Experience reviewing security architecture across SaaS, cloud, integration, data platform, and enterprise identity environments * Ability to translate technical security risks into business-relevant recommendations for program leaders and executives * Deep knowledge of: * Azure Architecture & Governance * Microsoft Entra ID * RBAC and Privileged Identity Management (PIM) * Azure Networking * Microsoft Defender * Microsoft Sentinel * Data Protection and Security Monitoring * Experience working with auditors, risk teams, and compliance frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications
* Azure Solutions Architect Expert * Microsoft Cybersecurity Architect Expert * CISSP, CCSP, CCSK, TOGAF, or equivalent certifications * Experience in insurance, reinsurance, financial services, or other regulated industries * Familiarity with NIST, ISO 27001, SOC 2, and SOX controls
Deliverables
* Architecture and security review reports * Risk and control gap assessments * Phase-gate security readiness assessments * Executive presentations and recommendations for program leadership * Design review participation throughout the program * Security control traceability and audit-readiness support for finance systems * Ongoing advisory support for project and governance teams
