Account Executive Resume Example (2026)
By FindAJobAI team Updated How we built this page
Sales managers read an account executive resume for numbers first: quota, attainment, deal size, sales cycle and rank on the team. If those aren't in the first few lines of each role, the rest rarely gets read.
The example below is a mid-market account executive with six years in SaaS, promoted from SDR to SMB seller to mid-market. Each role opens with attainment, and the bullets show how the deals were won: outbound, multi-threading and negotiation.

How to write an account executive resume
Five steps, in the order a recruiter reads the page. The format around them stays plain for every job: one column, standard headings, newest role first.
Header: name, target title and links
Use the title that matches your segment (Account Executive, Mid-Market AE, Enterprise AE) plus LinkedIn. Name, title and contact details are all the header needs; save the space for numbers.
Summary: what you do and your best proof
Open with years, segment and what you sell, then your last full year: attainment, quota size, rank and average deal size. Close with how you win, such as outbound or multi-threading.
Experience: newest first, a result in every bullet
Lead every role with attainment, quota and rank, then deal size and cycle, then how you won. Keep ARR, ACV or bookings consistent with the way each company measured them.
Skills: grouped, in the ad's words
Group selling methods, tools and markets. List a method such as MEDDICC only if a bullet shows you using it.
Education and certifications
Degree and year go at the bottom, since sales hiring rarely turns on them. Awards like President's Club deserve their own short section with years.
Skills to put on an account executive resume
Hard skills are the tools and methods of the job; soft skills are how you work with people. Each comes with one way to prove it, because a skill named only in a list counts for little. Add the ones you really have.

Soft skills
- Resilience
- Show a quarter you recovered from or a lost deal you won back.
- Active listening
- Mention a need you uncovered that reshaped a proposal.
- Competitiveness
- Give your rank on the team, or awards with their years.
- Relationship building
- Show referrals or expansions that came from customers you closed.

Account Executive resume summary examples
Two or three lines on what you do and your strongest proof. Start from the one closest to your level and use your own facts.

Common account executive resume mistakes
Each one is easy to make and quick to fix before you apply.
No quota numbers
A sales resume without attainment reads as if it's hiding something. Give quota, attainment and rank for each year you can share.
Activity instead of revenue
Calls and demos matter for SDRs; closers are judged on revenue. Put closed numbers first.
Percentages without the base
Attainment against a $100K quota and against a $1.5M quota tell different stories. Give the quota amount next to the percentage.
Naming confidential customers
Unless a deal is a public reference, describe the customer by industry and size.
Inconsistent revenue measures
Switching between ARR, ACV and bookings makes your numbers impossible to compare. Use the measure each company used, and label it.
ATS tips for an account executive resume
Applicant tracking systems turn your file into text that recruiters search, mostly for the skills and titles in the ad. They rarely reject a resume on their own; one that parses badly or misses the ad's words just doesn't come up.
- Open every role with quota attainment, the quota amount and your rank on the team if you can share it; sales ads screen on numbers first.
- Say who you sold to (segment, buyer, industry), with your average deal size and sales cycle.
- Name your CRM and sales tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, Outreach, Gong) and the method (MEDDICC, Challenger), but only ones you used.
- List awards such as President's Club with the year in a short section; they get noticed and searched.
- Use ARR, ACV or bookings the way your company measured them, and keep the term consistent across roles.

Account Executive resume FAQ
What numbers should an account executive put on a resume?
Quota and attainment by year, new revenue (ARR or bookings), average deal size, sales cycle length, win rate and rank on the team. Use the figures your employer reported, so you can explain them.
What if I missed quota one year?
Show multi-year attainment or the years you hit, and be ready to explain the miss honestly. You can lead with other wins from that year, such as a big logo or a new market, as long as nothing is misleading.
Should I name the companies I sold to?
Only public customers, such as logos on your employer's website or published case studies. Otherwise describe them, for example "a Fortune 500 retailer".
How we built this page
The FindAJobAI team wrote the three example resumes, the bullets, the skills and the advice for account executive roles. The people, employers and numbers in the examples are invented; the structure, the tools and the way each bullet is built are the parts to copy.
