Job Description and Qualifications: Sidewalk Outreach Nurse – Chicago Region

Position Summary:

The Sidewalk Outreach Nurse for the Alliance Family Services - Chicago Region serves in a frontline medical outreach role focused on engaging women who are actively seeking abortion services and connecting them with compassionate, life-affirming alternatives through our mobile ministry.

This position combines nursing care, patient education, crisis intervention, outreach, and women’s healthcare services. The Sidewalk Outreach Nurse serves as a visible representative of Alliance Family Services outside abortion facilities, offering women immediate support, medical information, pregnancy consultations, and access to services including pregnancy testing, limited obstetrical ultrasound examinations, STI testing, nurse consultations, and other available resources.

This role requires an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where life-changing decisions are often being made in real time. The Sidewalk Outreach Nurse must remain calm, compassionate, professional, and confident while interacting with women and families experiencing fear, uncertainty, stress, or crisis.

The Sidewalk Outreach Nurse will divide time between direct outreach activities and clinical services provided through Alliance Family Services brick and mortar clinics and mobile medical programs. This position plays a critical role in helping women access medical care, support services, and practical resources while promoting the mission and values of Alliance Family Services throughout the community.
