The Douglas County District Court Trustee is accepting applications for a full-time Paralegal. This is a highly responsible position primarily providing support to the Court Trustee in the enforcement of child and spousal support. Duties include: * Monitoring child support and maintenance payment records * Taking enforcement action to collect support * Telephonic communication with obligors, obligees and employers * Analyzing cases to identify appropriate collection action * Proofreading documents and letters * Preparing legal pleadings * Working closely with attorneys to identify and review appropriate enforcement action * Providing back up coverage for the front counter and phones * General office duties and special assignments as needed
Qualifications: High school education; customer service experience; excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills; efficiency in computer skills (Excel, Word, and Outlook); proofreading skills; attention to detail; excellent communication skills and organizational skills; and ability to multi-task, work independently and with team members, and maintain confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: Prior legal experience in area of support enforcement or debt collection; prior experience working within a court system; paralegal or associate’s degree. Job Salary/Pay Rate & Benefits: Pay Grade 23, Step A $21.19/hour with potential step increases at 6 months to $21.73 and at 12 months to $23.39.
