Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Fitter/Welder will be responsible for, but not limited to:
* Read and follow detailed written instructions and fabrication drawings. * Perform accurate measurements and calculations using feet, inches, and fractions. * Successfully pass a 1-inch thick 2-G welder qualification. * Pass a tack welder qualification (visual macro break test). * Operate carbon air-arc equipment for back gouging processes. * Ensure safe work practices are adhered to, and appropriate PPE is worn at all times. * Mentor apprentices and junior fitters by sharing knowledge and safe work practices.
Position Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years of fitting/welding structural steel experience. * Ability to read and interpret blueprints. * Ability to read a tape measure. * Ability to operate overhead cranes. * Current or past AWS certification for FCAW, MCAW. * Knowledge of health and safety procedures. * A team player, who can interrelate and operate effectively with peers and other associates within
a collegial, yet demanding, work environment.
* Organization skills and the ability to be flexible in managing changing priorities. * Communication skills–both written and oral. * Attention to detail and high level of accuracy. * Analytical and problem-solving skills.
