Immediate Opening! SMS Staffing is hiring Line Mechanic near Waukegan, IL!
Job Title: Line Mechanic Location: Near Waukegan IL Pay Rate: $25.00+/hr. Temp to Hire Schedule: 2nd Shift | 3:30 pm – 2:00 am (Monday - Thursday)
Position Summary The Line Mechanic maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs production and packaging equipment to keep production running safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production and packaging machinery.
* Maintain and perform preventive maintenance on production equipment.
* Repair equipment such as conveyors, case erectors, case packers, labelers, and fillers.
* Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
* Perform machine adjustments, changeovers, and setups as needed.
* Follow safety, lockout/tagout, and PPE requirements.
* Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Previous industrial maintenance, mechanical repair, or machine maintenance experience preferred.
* Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing production or packaging equipment.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* Basic electrical or PLC knowledge is a plus.
* Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing.
* Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English.
* Flexible with overtime.
