We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and dedicated Direct Support Professional (1099 Independent Contractor) to provide individualized, one-on-one Respite care for a member in Charlotte, NC (Zip Code: 28213). In this flexible, part-time role, you will work directly with the member in their home and community environment—engaging them in meaningful, positive activities, assisting with daily routines, ensuring their safety, and providing valuable relief to dedicated family caregivers.
Key Responsibilities
* Respite Support & Attentive Care: Provide engaged 1:1 supervision and companionship in the home and community, prioritizing the member’s safety, comfort, and emotional well-being during respite periods.
* Daily Living & Meaningful Activities: Assist with everyday routines and facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities, hobbies, and low-stress community outings tailored to the member's interests.
* Care Plan Alignment & Safety: Partner closely with family members and care coordinators to follow personalized care plans, honor established routines, and maintain a calm, secure setting.
* Reliable Communication & Logging: Keep open, proactive communication regarding scheduling, care updates, and log accurate daily notes reflecting the member's engagement and progress.
Work Schedule & Hours
This position offers exceptional scheduling flexibility, making it an ideal opportunity for supplemental income:
* Schedule: Part-Time / Flexible
* Weekly Hours: Minimum of 5–10 hours per week
* Coordination: Specific days and shift times are coordinated collaboratively between the family’s needs and your personal availability (e.g., after-school, weekday evenings, or weekends).

What We Are Looking For | Qualifications
* Contractor Status: Comfort and willingness to operate as an independent contractor under a 1099 agreement.
* Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required).
* Transportation: Valid North Carolina driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance (Required).
* Background Check: Ability to successfully pass a standard criminal background check.
* Experience: Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDD), caregiving, or youth support is preferred.
