About the role

The Controller acts as a finance business partner to our U.S. leadership team, safeguarding the financial integrity of the organization while turning operational and project data into insights that drive profitable growth. The role owns budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis, prepares and analyzes financial statements for group consolidation, and constructively challenges the business on costs, margins and investment decisions. This role also supervises the local accounting team and is a member of our leadership team.

This position will reside at our U.S. Corporate Headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Some of what you’ll do in this position:

* Acts as the finance business partner to management, sales, operations and service, providing analysis that supports decision making.

* Owns the annual budget, rolling forecasts and long-term plan for the U.S. organization in close cooperation with the Group Finance Team in Finland.

* Analyzes monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash flow results against budget and forecast, explains variances and proposes corrective actions.

* Manages cash flow and net working capital forecasting.

* Leads the month-end close and prepares the monthly reporting package for group consolidation; supports the annual audit and statutory financial statements.

* Ensures compliance with GAAP, group policies and internal controls.

* Approves journal entries, adjustments and corrections up to authorized limits.

* Signature authority for check disbursements and authority to authorize wire transfers.

* Works closely with auditors, tax partners and banks.

* Identifies and drives continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.

Requirements

We’re looking for a candidate with:

* Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.

* Minimum 5 years’ experience in business controlling, FP&A or accounting in an international company.

* Experience in a manufacturing, capital equipment or project-based business is a strong plus.

* Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis; project controlling experience is a plus.

* Experience supervising or developing accounting staff.

* Knowledge of US GAAP or IFRS is required; previous SOX experience preferred.

* CPA or CMA certification preferred.

* Strong business acumen and the ability to explain financial insights clearly to non-finance colleagues — and to challenge them constructively.

* Ability to manage competing deadlines and pivot priorities in a fast-paced environment.

* Ability to ensure processes and financial decisions are managed ethically and in compliance with company policies.

* Advanced Excel skills and ERP experience are required; Power BI and Sage experience is a plus.

* Excellent communication skills in English and comfort working in a global team.
