About the role

Hi there 👋 — I’m Dr. Grace Hunter, and I have the privilege of leading the clinical team at Sana. We’re looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate) to join our virtual team for six months, primarily to provide parental leave coverage, with the potential for the role to transition into a longer-term, full-time position.

If you’re energized by delivering excellent care and thinking creatively about how healthcare can be simpler, better, and more human, I’d love for you to consider joining us.

Sana’s vision is to make healthcare easy.

Healthcare in the US is unnecessarily hard, for both patients and clinicians. At Sana, we’re building something different: a primary care experience that feels effortless, accessible, and personal, without sacrificing quality. As an Advanced Practice Provider on our virtual care team, you’ll play a critical role in delivering mostly asynchronous primary care to our members. You’ll care for adult patients across preventive care, chronic disease management, and common acute concerns. And you’ll help redefine how care can be delivered—thoughtfully, efficiently, and with patients truly at the center.

We’re looking for clinicians who are not only strong in primary care, but also deeply curious, adaptable, and excited about the potential of technology and innovation to reshape healthcare delivery. This is a role for collaborative, low-ego team players who want to care for patients and help build a better system.

What you will do:

Deliver safe, high-quality, patient-centered primary care across asynchronous and synchronous modalities, using strong clinical judgment to triage, manage, and refer patients appropriately.

Build strong, longitudinal patient relationships that drive sustained engagement and high patient satisfaction.

Manage a fast-paced caseload of at least 20 asynchronous cases per day while maintaining excellent clinical standards.

Communicate with clarity and empathy while adhering to and strengthening team communication norms.

Quickly master Sana’s clinical platforms, AI-assisted workflows, and tools, independently troubleshooting issues and optimizing workflows.

Proactively contribute to clinical protocols, workflows, or operations that enhance patient experience, quality, or efficiency.

Collaborate across clinical, product, and operations teams with humility, a low-ego mindset, and a commitment to shared success.

Use data and clinical insight to support proactive panel management, close care gaps, and improve outcomes as Sana’s population health capabilities evolve.

About you:

Availability to work Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm CT

Active, unrestricted Texas NP or PA license; additional active state licenses a plus

3+ years of experience providing primary care to adults

Strong clinical judgment and a deep commitment to high-quality primary care

Excited to deliver primarily asynchronous care and comfortable making thoughtful clinical decisions through messaging, with escalation to synchronous care when appropriate

Efficient multitasker who thrives in fast-paced environments

Technically adept, curious, and innovation-minded

Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

Collaborative, low-ego team player who assumes positive intent and meets teammates with compassionate candor to solve problems together

Bias for action paired with intelligent risk-taking

Mission-driven and motivated to make healthcare work better for patients and clinicians

Virtual care and/or startup experience a plus

Founded in 2017, Sana is a health plan solution built for small and midsize businesses — designed around our integrated primary care service, Sana Care. It’s the foundation of everything we build: ensuring members can easily access high-quality, affordable care while employers and brokers have the tools they need to manage company benefits with confidence.

We’ve been remote-first since day one, with a fully distributed team across the U.S. We value curiosity, ownership, and speed — and we build in the open, together. If you’re energized by solving complex, meaningful problems and want to help reshape how healthcare works from the inside out, we’d love to meet you.
