About the role
Sportsman Boats is looking for a Cost Accountant to join the Accounting team! This role will have responsibilities through the entire procure-to-pay process. This is a rare opportunity to gain experience with all facets of material workflow in a manufacturing organization. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, excited to collaborate across departments, and not afraid to get their hands dirty when needed!
What you will do:
* Accounts Payable Management: * Process vendor invoices through optical character recognition. * Work to move invoices through the approval workflow. * Ensure timely and accurate payments while maximizing cash discounts. * Review vendor account statements to address payment issues. * Assist in responding to audit requests. * Credit Card Reconciliation: * Review and reconcile monthly credit card statements to the general ledger. * Maintain supporting documentation for all transactions. * Inventory Management and Cost Analysis: * Work closely with the Warehouse Manager to resolve receiving issues. * Assist in periodic cycle counts, and year end physical inventory. * Calculate inventory reserve and analyze for opportunities to reduce slow moving or excess inventory. * Research issues related to bill of materials inaccuracies and provide suggestions to Engineering.
To be considered you must have:
* Bachelor’s degree * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is a must to succeed in this role. * Xlookups, pivot tables, and if statements are used regularly. * Basic understanding of accounting principles. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
