About the role
JOB PURPOSE: The Early Head Start Teacher is responsible for all aspects of the care and education of enrolled children.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Provides services to toddlers including physical caregiving, developmental assessments, and implementing age-appropriate curricula. * Serves as the primary teacher for children and ensures safe and healthy learning environments and individualized learning activities for children. * Individual may also be designated as a Center Assistant, assigned to classrooms as needed to provide continuity of care for required coverage during staff breaks, staff planning, and full-day operations. * Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS: * Works well independently and as part of a team. * Works well with individuals of all cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. * Strong organizational skills, ability to monitor and prioritize workload and meet strict deadlines. * Strong communication skills, both written and oral. * Ability to regularly lift and carry toddlers who may range in weight up to 45 pounds. * Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, and rise from the floor. * Ability to reach with hands/arms and use hands to manipulate, handle, and feel objects. * Background check/drug screen. * Reliable transportation required.
SCHEDULE: * 8-hour shift, Monday-Friday.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: * Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or equivalent college coursework.
