About the role

At Covenant Case Management Services (CCMS), our mission is to serve our community through education, advocacy, and partnership to fuel purpose-filled futures. Founded on the belief that everyone deserves a safe, joyful place to thrive, we provide holistic, compassionate, whole-person care to empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to overcome limitations and realize their dreams. We consider those we serve an extension of our family and our independent contractors an essential part of our team.

We are seeking an energetic, dependable, and creative Direct Support Professional (1099 Independent Contractor) to support an engaging, verbal young adult woman in King, NC (Zip Code: 27021).

She loves being active, creative, and out and about! Her favorite hobbies include shopping, getting her hair and nails done, swimming, walking for light exercise, and sitting down to do arts, crafts, and coloring. The primary goal is for her to spend the majority of each shift out enjoying the local community rather than staying inside the house. Staff will start the day by assisting her with her morning routine, breakfast, and getting ready, followed by community outings and creative activities. She is verbal and easy to converse with; her only specific behavioral support need is food-seeking, which requires proactive supervision, clear boundaries, and healthy routine redirection.

Because of the high number of available hours (up to 55 hours per week of CLS plus respite), we are open to filling this with one full-time contractor and one part-time contractor to share coverage, offering flexible daytime scheduling based on staff availability.

Key Responsibilities

* Morning Prep & Personal Care: Assist the member with her morning routine at home, including personal care, dressing, hair styling, breakfast, and planning the day's outings.

* Community Integration & Creative Activities: Plan, accompany, and support her on community outings for the bulk of each shift—such as shopping trips, salon and nail visits, swimming sessions, and park walks—as well as engaging with her in favorite creative hobbies like arts, crafts, and coloring.

* Attentive Food-Seeking Support: Provide proactive, structured guidance and gentle boundary reinforcement around food seeking, promoting healthy dietary choices and scheduled meal routines without confrontation.

* Companionship & Verbal Engagement: Converse, build genuine rapport, and practice everyday social and independence skills across both home routines and public settings.

* Caregiver Collaboration & Safety: Partner closely with the family and CCMS coordinators to maintain consistent routines, prioritize community safety, and submit accurate, timely daily documentation.

Work Schedule & Hours

This position offers substantial hours with flexible daytime scheduling tailored around contractor availability:

* Available Hours: Up to 55 hours per week of Community Living Supports (CLS), plus additional Respite hours as needed.

* Staffing Options: Open to filling this need with one Full-Time contractor and one Part-Time contractor (or flexible split shifts).

* Timeframe: Daytime hours (starting in the morning for routine prep and continuing through daytime community outings; no late nights).

Position Details & Structure

* Role Type: Full-Time or Part-Time Opportunities (1099 Independent Contractor)

* Compensation: Competitive Hourly Pay of $19.00/hour for CLS care

* Location: King, NC (Zip Code: 27021 / Stokes County)

* Service Focus: Community Living Supports (CLS) & Respite Care

What We Are Looking For | Qualifications

* Experience: Prior experience supporting individuals with IDD or autism; comfort managing food-seeking behaviors with positive, calm redirection is preferred.

* Energy & Shared Interests: An active, creative, and outgoing demeanor. If you enjoy shopping, crafting, coloring, salon visits, walking, and being on the go, you will be a natural match!

* Contractor Status: Comfort and willingness to operate as an independent contractor under a 1099 agreement.

* Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent (Required).

* Transportation: Valid North Carolina driver’s license, reliable personal vehicle, and active auto insurance (Required for community outings).

* Screening: Ability to successfully pass a standard criminal background check (Mandatory).

* Certifications: CPR / First Aid certification is a strong plus.

Why Partner with Covenant Case Management Services?

* High-Hour Potential & Flexible Daytime Shifts: Earn steady contractor income during daytime hours with no late nights, with schedules coordinated around your availability.

* Fun, Creative & Active Role: Spend your workday doing crafts, coloring, shopping, swimming, and exploring the community rather than being confined to the house.

* Supportive Family Partnership: Work alongside an engaged, loving parent who clearly communicates goals, preferences, and routines.

* Supportive Agency Culture: Join a faith-informed, community-centered organization that values open communication, mutual respect, and dedicated guidance every step of the way.
