We have an exciting new opportunity and are currently looking to add a Warehouse Specialist to our berthing and maintenance team, supporting the Hampton Roads, VA area. Duties and Responsibilities:
• Receive, store, and issue hand tools, machine tools, replacement parts, shop supplies, and equipment from the tool and gear locker room • Keep records of tools issued to and returned by personnel • Search for lost or misplaced tools and equipment • Prepare periodic inventory reports and maintain inventory records as required • Unpack, inspect, and store new equipment and materials • Visually inspect tools and equipment for wear or defects and report damaged or worn-out equipment to supervisors • Apply protective coatings and identification markings to tools and equipment as required • Perform a variety of warehousing duties in accordance with established storage plans and procedures • Verify materials against receiving documents and report discrepancies or damaged materials • Store, stack, palletize, and rearrange materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods • Locate and move materials, parts, and assemblies between storage and work areas to support operations • Review production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine material requirements and priorities • Coordinate with government personnel regarding material ordering, overdue items, and material availability • Operate carts, hand trucks, forklifts, and government vehicles to transport materials as required • Maintain inventory and distribution records using manual and computerized systems • Per contract requirements, must be able to respond to urgent calls outside of regular working hours • Employees are expected to provide their own customary trade hand-tools necessary to perform their job duties, subject to applicable federal, state, and local laws.
* Employees are expected to perform other duties as assigned, including tasks outside of their primary trade, when required to support operational needs. Such assignments may be temporary or may continue for an extended period of time.
Experience:
• Experience performing warehouse operations and inventory control preferred • Experience operating material handling equipment preferred • Familiarity with warehouse inventory systems and material tracking procedures preferred
• Messing & Berthing Barge Experience preferred.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Drivers License required
• Security Clearance required
• Forklift certification preferred
• Must be able to pass a government background check and obtain base access credentials • Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs. • Must be able to traverse narrow passageways, ladders/stairs, and confined spaces • Must be able to walk, reach, sit, and work in environments with occasional noise • Must be detail oriented and organized • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment and vehicles required
