Job Description
Objective:
The Accounting Intern will provide hands-on support to the accounting department by assisting with routine accounting functions and special projects. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who is pursuing a degree in accounting or finance and is interested in gaining practical experience in a professional accounting environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assist with the preparation and posting of monthly journal entries under the supervision of accounting staff * Support the completion of account reconciliations, including researching and resolving variances * Assist with budget preparation and analysis, including compiling data and supporting schedules * Help maintain accurate accounting records and documentation in accordance with company policies * Participate in month-end close activities and other ad hoc accounting projects as assigned * Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines are met and information is accurate and complete * Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor * Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications
Education/Experience Requirements:
* Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with completion of foundational accounting courses at a minimum. Completion of intermediate and/or advanced accounting courses preferred. * Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy * Basic understanding of accounting principles (coursework-level knowledge acceptable) * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Teams and Outlook; experience with accounting systems is a plus * Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks * Effective written and verbal communication skills * Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a professional environment

This is a paid summer internship opportunity located in Indianapolis, Indiana. Please note that housing or a housing stipend is not provided.
