About the role

At ABB, we help industries run leaner and cleaner—and every person here makes that happen. You’ll be empowered to lead, supported to grow, and proud of the impact we create together. Join us and help run what runs the world.

This position reports to:

Resource Manager, NewGen

__

Every great transformation starts with a clear plan and someone who can bring people together around it. As our NewGen Project Manager, you will be that person. You will shape how our projects are planned, delivered and adopted. You will turn ambitious ideas into measurable business outcomes, working with colleagues across functions and business areas at ABB.

Key responsibilities:

You will start by setting the direction. You will define a planning strategy that covers all the activities needed to manage the project well. You will choose the delivery approach that fits best, whether that is waterfall, agile or a hybrid. You will align with stakeholders on the scope and build a schedule that reflects it.

Next, you will define the budget, resources, timelines and work allocation together with your stakeholders. You will plan, coordinate and deliver your projects within the agreed time, scope, cost and quality. Along the way, you will prioritize tasks, keep project plans and charters up to date, and keep everyone informed of progress.

You will create the key project documents with your stakeholders. These include scope, acceptance criteria, financials, schedules and risk plans. You will guide the work through its phases and stage-gates, so resources are used efficiently and each milestone is met. You will make sure every activity follows company, program and IS procedures, as well as quality and safety standards.

Risk management will be part of your daily routine. You will identify, mitigate and monitor risks, issues and decisions, and you will spot opportunities and act on them. You will draw on your experience to anticipate contingencies and choose the best way forward. You will track progress, costs and resources, and address variances early.

You will also be the trusted contact and escalation point for your stakeholders. You will manage expectations, build strong relationships and keep projects aligned as strategies evolve. You will prepare and drive project and budget approvals, and you will define the governance structures and committees that support them. You will report on performance against plans and business outcomes, and you will keep a steady focus on realizing business value through delivery and implementation.

When a project closes, you will make sure the handover is smooth and capture lessons learned, so the next project benefits from them. Throughout, you will follow sound methodology, ABB directives and program management standards.

What you bring:

To be successful in this role, you bring more than 12 years of project management experience, ideally in transformation or change programs. You are comfortable working in cross-functional environments with many stakeholders, and you know how to keep everyone moving in the same direction.

You have a proven track record of aligning projects with program objectives and delivering measurable business outcomes. Your strengths include project planning and execution, and managing resources and budgets. You are also experienced in managing risks, issues and dependencies, and you communicate clearly with stakeholders and governance forums.

You are a natural collaborator. You build alignment across multiple projects and teams, and you help business areas adopt change.

You also hold a recognized certification. This could be PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, an Agile/Scrum certification (such as CSM or SAFe), or ABB Program PM Certified under the IS Function Standard for IS Project Manager Certification.

Why ABB

At ABB, you will work in a global, collaborative environment with room to grow and learn. We welcome people from all backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. If you meet most of these criteria but not every one, we still encourage you to apply. We would like to hear your story.

Building a cleaner, smarter future takes all kinds of minds: the curious, the courageous, and the creative. That's why we welcome people from all backgrounds and experiences.
