About the role
Do you like walking up to a stranger at a booth and turning a short conversation into a deal? Do you want your work to help local business owners get paid and grow? This role could be a good fit.
About SwipeSimple
SwipeSimple helps small businesses get paid. Since 2013 we have built payment software and tools that merchants use to run their day: taking cards in person, sending invoices, collecting online, and keeping the books straight. More than 125,000 merchants use SwipeSimple. Banks, payment processors, and resellers offer SwipeSimple to their business customers. Businesses can also sign up with us directly through SwipeSimple Connect.
We serve small businesses and give priority to service businesses: HVAC, plumbing, chiropractic, physical therapy, salons and barbershops, mental health and family counseling, and more.
Serving these businesses well starts with understanding them. An HVAC owner and a salon owner get paid in different ways and go to different places for information. Very few of them read marketing publications. They ask other owners. They follow the trade accounts and podcasts their industry already listens to, and many go to trade shows. They trust a recommendation from someone who has done the job over anything a vendor tells them.
That is where this role comes in. You meet owners in person, in the places they already go, and earn enough trust that they try SwipeSimple and recommend us to each other.
The role
You find new business for SwipeSimple Connect, our direct offer that gives small businesses payments and customer management software in one place. Most of your work happens face to face: at industry trade shows, association meetings, and local business events. You start conversations on the floor, run quick demos, and follow up until the owner signs or is ready for the inside sales team.

What you will do

* Run short demos on the floor that show owners how they would take cards, send invoices, and collect payments.
* Follow up with every lead within [number] business days after an event. Close the deals you can, and hand the rest to the inside sales team with clear notes.
* With marketing, research and pick the events worth attending in our priority industries.
* Before each event, plan outreach to owners who will attend and set up meetings ahead of time.
* Represent SwipeSimple at local events in your area, such as chamber of commerce meetings, trade association meetings, and supply house events.
* Build relationships with the associations, event organizers, and industry figures our owners already trust.
* Log every lead, conversation, and deal in the CRM. Report what each event cost and what it brought in.
* Tell marketing and product what you hear from merchants on the floor.
* Follow the payments industry and our competitors so you can answer tough questions in person.
