About the role
The artistic director of the Royal Swedish Opera Tobias Theorell and Chorus master Jori Klomp invites to audition. The Chorus of the Royal Swedish Opera is Sweden’s largest professional chorus and one of the oldest in the world, founded in 1773. The chorus consists of 48 full-time choristers who take part in the vast majority of all opera productions, which are performed throughout the season. The position Tenor 1, full-time, permanent employment with probationary year commencing the 1st of July 2027 or by agreement. Your profile Details of education in music or postgraduate studies in opera are requested, and further details of experience as a member of an opera chorus are desirable. You should have a good proficiency in either English or Swedish. If you cannot currently speak Swedish you are expected to learn. Audition The Audition will take place on Sunday the 27th of February 2027, by invitation and upon review of applications. Please prepare the following for audition: Mandatory aria (choose one of them): Tenor 1 Un aura amorosa (Così fan tutte) Che gelida manina (La Bohème) Pourqoui me reveiller (Werther) One aria of your own choice in contrasting language and style to that of the mandatory aria. The audition will also involve tests in sight-reading, chorus excerpts, stagecraft and an ensemble test. The chorus excerpts and ensembles will be sent after invitation.
