About the role

Why Lakeshore – A Place to Grow, Contribute, and Connect

We lead with our values: Professionalism, Ownership, Team, Quality, and Positivity, and we live them daily. Whether it’s launching a new kids camp, stepping in to assist a family at the front desk, or recognizing a trainer’s impact, we show up with care and high standards. Our facilities are impressive, but it’s our team culture and commitment to a seamless member experience that make this a truly special place to work and grow.

About the Role

Love the water and working with kids? We’re looking for patient, energetic Swim Instructors to help swimmers of all ages build water safety skills, confidence, and a love for swimming. From parent-and-tot classes and first-time swimmers to kids refining their strokes, you’ll teach group and private lessons in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment.

This role is great for current or former competitive swimmers, swim coaches, lifeguards, and anyone who loves teaching in the water. Experienced instructors and those new to teaching are both encouraged to apply. We’ll provide training.

What You’ll Do

* Teach private, semi-private, and group swim lessons for kids and adults * Lead parent-and-tot, beginner, and stroke development classes * Plan age- and level-appropriate lessons that build skills and confidence * Keep swimmers safe and supervised at all times * Track swimmer progress and recommend next levels * Communicate with parents about their child’s progress, warmly and professionally * Support swim clinics, camps, and aquatics events as needed * Work with the Aquatics team on schedules and program growth

What You Bring

* Strong swimming skills and knowledge of all four competitive strokes * Experience teaching swim lessons, coaching, or working with kids * Patience, energy, and a positive, encouraging teaching style * Dependability and strong communication skills * Availability for after-school hours, evenings, and/or weekends * Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent certification preferred * Lifeguard, CPR/AED, and First Aid certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Pay & Benefits

Pay: $18 – $20 per session, based on experience and certifications. Instructors are paid per lesson taught.

Part-time team members:

* 401(k) (eligibility requirements apply) * Paid leave under the Chicago Paid Leave Ordinance * Complimentary club membership, childcare for team members’ children, and 50% off club services

Full-time team members:

* Medical, dental, and vision insurance * Short- and long-term disability insurance * Voluntary life insurance * 401(k) * Paid time off (PTO) * Complimentary family membership, childcare for team members’ children, and 50% off club services

The pay range above reflects what we reasonably expect to pay for this role. Final pay is based on each candidate’s experience, qualifications, and fit for the role. If you’re interested but this role doesn’t line up perfectly with what you’re looking for, we encourage you to apply. We’re always happy to start a conversation.
