About the role

Position Summary

Hive Group is seeking a highly experienced Principal Technical Writer & Acquisition Communications Lead to support complex federal program documentation, regulatory communications, and organizational governance. In this role, you will serve as a senior subject matter expert responsible for producing, auditing, and refining complex federal acquisition deliverables, standard operating procedures (SOPs), enterprise templates, and strategic communications.

The ideal candidate brings deep operational familiarity with federal procurement frameworks (FAR/DFARS), demonstrates advanced proficiency across Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, and has hands-on experience integrating generative AI tools to accelerate document reviews, automate formatting, and institutionalize editorial best practices across cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

* Execute expert-level quality and compliance reviews of high-visibility federal procurement documents, ensuring 100% on-time delivery, structural clarity, and adherence to federal regulations, task order standards, and client SOPs. * Reorganize and refine complex technical, contractual, and programmatic content to ensure clear, precise, and unambiguous communication for executive stakeholders. * Critically analyze technical requirements and procurement packages, identifying regulatory risks or inconsistencies and proactively recommending solutions prior to final submission. * Maintain, govern, and update end-to-end acquisition lifecycle templates and style guides to reflect evolving federal policies, mandates, and operational changes. * Serve as a senior technical writing advisor to leadership and cross-functional teams, translating complex regulatory policies into clear, structured operational guidance. * Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior writers and peer reviewers, establishing standardized editing workflows, style guide adherence, and quality control metrics. * Drive continuous process improvement by collecting qualitative and quantitative review metrics to analyze trends and optimize team performance across workstreams. * Engage with client stakeholders to diplomatically communicate review feedback, streamline approval bottlenecks, and drive workflow automation where applicable. * Leverage enterprise productivity tools (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace), advanced editing software (e.g., PerfectIt), and AI assistants to optimize formatting and maximize editorial efficiency.

Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). * Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience as a Senior Technical Writer, Editor, or Communications Lead within a federal government acquisition or contracting environment. * Strong operational understanding of federal procurement frameworks, regulatory guidelines (e.g., FAR, DFARS), Executive Orders, and federal administrative policy mandates. * High proficiency and technical fluency across both Microsoft Office / 365 and Google Workspace enterprise suites. * Proven experience leveraging modern generative AI platforms and editing tools to enhance technical writing, research, and review workflows. * Demonstrated ability to lead technical writing initiatives, mentor team members, and interface effectively with government leadership. * Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable federal background check.

Compensation and Benefits The estimated compensation range for this position is $105,000 – $155,000 annually, depending on geographic location, specialized regulatory expertise, leadership experience, and technical certifications.

Hive Group offers a comprehensive benefits package including top-tier health/dental/vision coverage, retirement matching, paid leave, federal holidays, and professional development support.
