About Building Blocks Learning Center

Building Blocks Learning Center is a growing early childhood education organization serving children and families throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley. With more than 200 employees across multiple locations, we believe exceptional early childhood education begins with exceptional people.

Our commitment to quality extends beyond the classroom. We are focused on building strong educational and administrative teams, developing effective leaders, and creating positive workplace cultures where employees feel supported, valued, and accountable.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced, people-centered, and results-driven Vice President of Human Resources to join our executive leadership team.

Reporting directly to the President & CEO, this position will lead the organization's human resources department and play a key role in shaping our culture, developing our people, and supporting continued organizational growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader who understands that HR is about more than policies, paperwork, and filling vacancies. It's about attracting the right people, building high-performing teams, developing leaders, and creating an environment where employees can succeed.

This is a strategic and hands-on executive position. We are looking for someone who can provide leadership and direction while remaining actively involved in the daily work of a growing, multi-location organization.

Key Responsibilities

HR Leadership & Organizational Culture

* Lead and oversee all human resources functions, establishing clear expectations, measurable goals, and departmental accountability. * Partner with executive leadership and Managing Directors to build positive, professional, and mission-driven workplace cultures. * Develop employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives. * Maintain a visible presence across school locations, building meaningful relationships with employees and leadership.

Talent Acquisition & Team Development

* Directly oversee the recruitment function, ensuring hiring goals are achieved while maintaining high standards for candidate quality. * Partner with Managing Directors to recruit and develop exceptional educational and administrative teams. * Establish effective recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding practices. * Monitor hiring performance, employee retention, and workforce needs across all locations.

Performance Management & Leadership Development

* Lead organization-wide employee performance management and evaluation processes. * Establish clear employee performance expectations and accountability measures. * Coach Managing Directors on employee development, performance concerns, and effective leadership. * Support the development of strong school leadership teams focused on quality early learning and exceptional family service.

Employee Relations & HR Operations

* Oversee employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, and employment matters. * Ensure timely, professional, and consistent communication with employees. * Maintain compliance with employment laws, childcare staff qualification requirements, and organizational policies. * Oversee HR administration, employee records, onboarding, benefits coordination, and HR systems. * Remain hands-on and actively involved in departmental operations as needed.

Qualifications

Required

* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. * Current SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification. * Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities. * Minimum of 5 years of Director or Manager HR experience of teams of 10 or more. * Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and HR operations. * Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices. * Proven ability to lead teams, establish accountability, and deliver measurable results. * Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to travel between organizational locations.

Preferred

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for a leader who is approachable, accountable, proactive, and genuinely passionate about people.

Someone who understands the importance of building great teams, takes ownership of results, enjoys developing others, and is equally comfortable setting strategy or rolling up their sleeves to get the job done.

Most importantly, we want someone who believes that supporting our employees and developing strong leaders directly contributes to the quality of care, education, and service we provide to children and families.

Join Our Team

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a growing early childhood education organization, work directly with executive leadership, and help shape the people, culture, and future of Building Blocks Learning Center.

Only qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
