About the role

Employment Program Manager

Harrisonburg, VA and Surrounding Areas Part-Time with Opportunity to Grow into Full-Time $23–$24 per hour

RISE Services is seeking an Employment Program Manager to help individuals with disabilities find and maintain meaningful employment while providing day-to-day supervision and support to assigned Employment Specialists.

This is a hands-on, working management position. You will maintain your own client caseload, provide services in community and workplace settings, coach staff, and step in when service coverage is needed.

What You Will Do

* Help clients explore career interests, search for jobs, complete applications, prepare for interviews, and succeed at work.

* Provide in-person job coaching, workplace training, and employment-retention support.

* Build relationships with local employers and identify employment opportunities.

* Supervise and coach assigned Employment Specialists, including observing services and providing practical feedback.

* Coordinate staff schedules and client coverage, including providing backup services during absences or vacancies.

* Complete accurate, timely progress notes and review staff documentation.

* Monitor client progress, address service gaps, and follow up on staff performance concerns.

* Communicate professionally with clients, families, employers, referral partners, and program leadership.

Schedule and Location

The position begins part-time, with the opportunity to become full-time as the caseload and staffing needs increase. A full-time transition is not guaranteed by a specific date.

Services are provided throughout Harrisonburg and surrounding Shenandoah Valley communities. Regular local travel and in-person work are required. Your schedule must accommodate client employment needs, which may include early mornings, evenings, or occasional weekends.

Part-time billable expectations depend on your approved schedule and caseload. If the position becomes full-time, the expectation is at least 30 billable direct-service hours per week, alongside supervisory and documentation responsibilities.

Qualifications

Applicants must have either:

* A bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, counseling, rehabilitation, psychology, education, business, or a related field, with at least three years of relevant experience; or

* A high school diploma or equivalent with at least seven years of relevant experience.

Relevant experience includes supported employment, vocational rehabilitation, disability services, workforce development, or related human services work.

Supervisory, team-lead, training, or staff-mentoring experience is preferred.

What You Will Need

* A valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle.

* Willingness to travel throughout the service area and transport clients when required.

* Strong organization, communication, and practical problem-solving skills.

* Ability to balance direct client services with staff coaching and timely documentation.

* Comfort giving clear feedback, addressing concerns, and following through.

* Ability to work independently and use electronic records, scheduling systems, and other workplace technology.

* Successful completion of required background checks and driving-record reviews.

Pay: $23–$24 per hour. Mileage is reimbursed according to organizational policy.

If you enjoy direct client work and are ready to guide a team while staying actively involved in service delivery, we encourage you to apply.

RISE Services is an equal opportunity employer. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified applicants and employees.
