About the role

Paralegal - Commercial Real Estate & Lending

About Us

Our legal team is committed to providing each client with quality counsel, innovative solutions, and personalized service. Founded in 2000, the firm offers the legal expertise of its 120+ attorneys, who have accumulated experience and problem-solving skills over decades of practice.

We are a prominent mid-size law firm seeking an experienced Transactional Paralegal with a strong background in commercial real estate closings, particularly lender-side financing and loan transactions, to join our growing Corporate and Real Estate Transactions practice in our Lake Success or Brooklyn office.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented and motivated professional to work on sophisticated commercial real estate, mortgage financing, commercial lending, acquisitions, and sale transactions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience preparing loan closing documentation, coordinating with lenders and other transaction parties, and managing real estate transactions through closing and post-closing.

Work Environment

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple transactions and competing deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced legal environment.

We are particularly interested in candidates with direct experience handling commercial real estate closings and lender-side loan transactions, including preparing and reviewing financing documents, managing closing checklists, coordinating document execution, and ensuring the timely satisfaction of closing requirements.

Candidates should possess strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently while supporting attorneys throughout all stages of a transaction.

Responsibilities

* Assist attorneys with commercial real estate closings, mortgage financing, commercial lending, acquisitions, refinancings, and sale transactions from inception through closing and post-closing.

* Prepare, review, and organize commercial loan closing documents, including promissory notes, mortgages, security agreements, assignments, guarantees, loan agreements, and related financing documentation.

* Coordinate lender-side real estate and loan closings, ensuring that required documentation, approvals, and closing conditions are properly addressed.

* Prepare and maintain closing checklists, track outstanding items, and coordinate the timely completion of all closing requirements.

* Review and organize loan commitment letters, title reports, surveys, insurance certificates, entity documentation, and other due diligence materials.

* Coordinate with lenders, borrowers, clients, title companies, opposing counsel, surveyors, and other transaction participants to facilitate closings.

* Prepare closing packages, signature pages, and execution instructions, and coordinate the execution, collection, and delivery of closing documents.

* Assist with title and lien reviews, UCC searches, UCC financing statements, and related filings.

* Coordinate the recording and filing of mortgages, assignments, satisfactions, and other transaction documents.

* Assist with the preparation and review of settlement statements, closing statements, and disbursement-related documentation.

* Track loan closing conditions, funding requirements, and post-closing obligations.

* Prepare final closing binders and maintain complete and accurate transaction files.

* Assist attorneys with corporate and real estate due diligence, entity formation documents, and related transactional matters.

* Maintain organized electronic and physical files and ensure proper document management throughout each transaction.

* Review and process transaction-related invoices and maintain accurate records.

* Provide additional transactional, billing, and administrative support as needed.

Qualifications

* Prior experience as a real estate or transactional paralegal, with substantial exposure to commercial real estate closings, strongly preferred.

* Experience with lender-side commercial loan closings, mortgage financing, or banking transactions is highly desirable.

* Demonstrated familiarity with loan documentation, real estate closing procedures, and lender closing requirements.

* Experience preparing or coordinating mortgage documents, promissory notes, guarantees, UCC filings, and related financing documents.

* Familiarity with title reports, surveys, lien searches, closing statements, and due diligence documentation.

* Ability to independently manage closing checklists, track deadlines, and coordinate with multiple parties to facilitate timely closings.

* Experience supporting commercial real estate acquisitions, sales, refinancings, or corporate transactions is a plus.

* Strong organizational, multitasking, and document management skills.

* Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and legal document management software.

* Experience with attorney billing and timekeeping software is a plus.

* Paralegal certificate preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

* Exceptional attention to detail, particularly when reviewing loan documentation and closing requirements.

* Strong understanding of transactional workflows and the ability to anticipate closing-related needs.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Strong client service and interpersonal skills.

* Ability to coordinate effectively with lenders, borrowers, attorneys, and other transaction participants.

* Proactive, resourceful, and solution-oriented approach to resolving closing-related issues.

* Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.

* Professional demeanor and strong judgment.

* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
