About the role

Our mission at Asimov is to advance humanity's ability to design living systems, enabling biotechnologies with outsized benefit to society. We're developing a mammalian synthetic biology platform––from cells to software––to enable the design and manufacture of next-generation therapeutics.

We are seeking an Associate Scientist to join our Cell Line Development team to help push the boundaries of biotherapeutic cell line development. In this role, you will conduct CHO-based cell line engineering and screening to produce human therapeutics. In addition, you will execute synthetic biology studies and new technology evaluations to continuously innovate our workflows and expression platform. This is a unique opportunity to work at a nimble, forward-thinking synthetic biology startup and help build the future of biological engineering.

About the Role:

* Perform CHO cell line development processes including transfection, cloning, characterization, and cell banking using state-of-the-art equipment.

* Complete comprehensive documentation of studies in an Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN).

* Help identify emerging practices for biologics cell line development and manufacturing to shape scientific strategies and develop improved workflows.

* Contribute to innovation focused on the development of novel cell line development workflows and applications.

* Work on novel, high-impact CLD research projects that go beyond standard molecules and workflows, with results intended for publication and/or patent filings.

About You:

* You have a BS or MS in Biological Engineering, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field with 5+ years of hands-on industry experience in mammalian cell engineering, and a deep understanding of molecular biology.

* Ideally, you have experience with CHO cell line development in support of biologic (e.g., mAb) therapies, but we encourage candidates with strong mammalian cell engineering backgrounds in other cell types or applications to apply.

* You have experience with any of the following: transient or stable siRNA knock-downs/knock-outs, inducible and/or synthetic gene expression systems, CRISPR-based cell line engineering.

* You’re a creative problem solver and get excited about the opportunity to drive the creation of industry-disruptive technology.

* You are proficient with spreadsheets such as Google Sheets or Excel, and familiarity with using AI tools for data analysis, visualization, and automation of day-to-day workflows.

* Don’t let this stop you from applying, but it’s a plus if you are familiar with cell culture liquid handling automation, flow cytometry, ELISA, ambr bioreactors, and/or ddPCR on coding/non-coding RNA.

We're fueled by a vision to transform biological engineering into a fully-fledged engineering discipline. Should you join our team, you will grow with a constantly evolving organization and push the frontiers of synthetic biology. Company culture is key to Asimov, and ours is a culture of recombination; we believe that our mission can only be achieved by bringing together a diverse team with a mixture of backgrounds and perspectives.
