Safety Manager

The Safety Manager position works closely with leadership, project management, supervisors, and field personnel to promote a strong safety culture, identify and mitigate workplace hazards, provide safety training, conduct inspections and incident investigations, and support compliance with applicable safety requirements.
Responsibilities * Promote a proactive safety culture and reinforce accountability for safe work practices throughout the organization. * Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and observations to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are addressed. * Identify job-specific hazards and develop appropriate safety controls. * Provide safety training, orientations, toolbox talks, and other educational programs for employees and supervisors while maintaining detailed records and documentation * Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, and property damage; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. * Monitor and support compliance with OSHA requirements, company policies, client requirements, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. * Coordinate with workers' compensation providers, insurance representatives, medical providers, and other external resources as needed. * Assist with prequalification requirements, safety questionnaires, audits, and client safety documentation. * Work with management to identify trends and implement continuous improvements to safety programs and practices.
Desired Qualifications * 3+ years of safety experience in civil construction, utilities, or a related industry. * Strong knowledge of all OSHA regulations and civil construction safety practices including workers compensation. * OSHA 30 certification required * Clean driving record required. * Experience with excavation and trenching, underground utilities, heavy equipment, traffic control, confined spaces, and other civil construction hazards preferred. * Experience conducting job-site inspections, safety training, incident investigations, and corrective-action follow-up. * Strong critical thinking skills. * Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field preferred. * Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred.
Physical Requirements: * Walk uneven ground on jobsites * Climb ladders * Extended standing and sitting * Lift and carry up to 50lbs * Work in an outdoor environment around large equipment * Must be able to perceive visual and auditory cues to ensure safe and efficient work performance.
