About the Opportunity

Our client, an established commercial construction company specializing in public and private sector projects, is seeking an experienced DoD Construction Project Manager to join its team in Tampa, FL.

The ideal candidate has direct experience delivering Department of Defense (DoD) construction projects and a strong understanding of federal government contracting procedures, including bidding, contract awards, submittals, compliance, and project execution.

This position offers the opportunity to manage complex military and federal construction projects from planning through closeout, ensuring successful delivery within established schedules, budgets, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

* Manage all phases of DoD construction projects, from preconstruction planning and bidding through execution and closeout. * Oversee project schedules, budgets, cost controls, forecasts, procurement, and overall project performance. * Prepare, coordinate, track, and manage government-required construction submittals, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and approval processes. * Manage RFIs, change orders, contract documentation, progress reports, and project closeout requirements. * Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field personnel, and internal project teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery. * Ensure compliance with DoD and federal contracting requirements, military construction specifications, applicable building codes, and project standards. * Work closely with government representatives, owners, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle. * Monitor construction progress, identify scheduling or budget risks, and implement corrective measures. * Coordinate with field leadership and safety personnel to maintain jobsite safety, quality control, and regulatory compliance. * Support project inspections, QA/QC activities, and documentation requirements. * Resolve construction challenges, manage stakeholder expectations, and provide regular project updates to leadership.

Required Qualifications

* Minimum of 5 years of relevant construction project management experience. * Direct, hands-on experience managing and delivering Department of Defense (DoD) construction projects is required. * Strong understanding of DoD construction processes, including government bidding, contract awards, submittals, coordination, compliance, and project delivery. * Demonstrated experience preparing, managing, and tracking construction submittals for government review and approval, rather than solely reviewing submissions on behalf of a government agency. * Proven ability to manage construction projects from planning through completion, including scheduling, budgeting, cost forecasting, subcontractor coordination, and contract administration. * Working knowledge of RFIs, change orders, construction specifications, project documentation, and closeout procedures. * Familiarity with federal and military construction safety standards, quality control requirements, and applicable building codes. * Proficiency in spreadsheets and general project management software. * Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work on-site in Tampa, FL.

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience will be considered. * PMP, Certified Construction Manager (CCM), OSHA, or other relevant professional certifications. * Experience using Microsoft Project or similar construction scheduling software. * Experience working directly with military installations, federal government representatives, and government contracting teams. * Background managing complex commercial, federal, or military facility construction projects.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

* Competitive annual salary of $120,000 – $150,000. * Opportunity to lead complex, high-visibility DoD and federal construction projects. * Join an established construction organization committed to safety, quality, and project excellence. * Collaborate with experienced construction professionals and government stakeholders. * Opportunity for continued professional development and career growth.
