Early Childhood Classroom Assistant (Full-Time) — $500 Sign-On Bonus

Brookings, SD · Full-time, hourly · $16.00–$18.25 per hour · $500 sign-on bonus Apply by midnight on October 31, 2026, to qualify for the $500 sign-on bonus.

Looking for work that matters, with a team that has your back? As a Classroom Assistant, you'll help kids from infancy through preschool learn, play, and grow every day. No early childhood degree needed. If you're warm, patient, and love being around little ones, we'll train you and help you build a career.

Grow with us: we'll help you earn your CDA credential at no cost to you, and your pay goes up as you reach credential milestones.

What you'll do

* Help your lead Teacher run daily lessons, activities, and routines. * Care for children's everyday needs, including meals, feeding, diapering, and toileting. * Keep a close, caring eye on children at all times. * Help with smooth transitions between activities, meals, outdoor play, and rest. * Set up, clean up, and keep the classroom safe and organized. * Support children with extra needs, guided by the Teacher and Early Childhood Specialist. * Help track meals for our food program (CACFP). * Pitch in across classrooms when needed to keep the right staff-to-child ratios. * Join trainings and team meetings so you keep learning.

Your lead Teacher guides your day, and the Assistant Director and Center Director handle administrative and HR matters. You'll report to the Early Childhood Center Director.

What you'll bring

Must have * High school diploma or equivalent * Patience, warmth, and genuine care for young children * Interest in early childhood education and willingness to earn your CDA * Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team * CPR/First Aid certification, or the ability to get it within 90 days (we'll help) * A satisfactory background check per SD DSS requirements

Nice to have * Experience with young children (babysitting, nannying, and parenting count too) * Knowledge of NAEYC Program Standards

What you'll get

* $500 sign-on bonus * 50% off our licensed childcare programs * Health insurance with a $450/month Club contribution, plus dental and vision * Club-paid life and disability insurance * 401(k) with up to a 5% match * PTO from day one, 8 paid holidays, and paid family leave

The physical side of the job

You'll be active all shift: sitting on the floor, kneeling, crouching, and bending to be at a child's level; lifting up to 40 pounds; helping with diapering and physical care; supervising children outdoors in all kinds of weather; and responding quickly in an emergency. This position is considered safety-sensitive.
