Job: Real Estate Acquisition & Rehab Intern / Fellow Location: Milwaukee, WI, Company: Acts Housing

Real Estate Acquisition & Rehab Intern / Fellow Acts Housing | Milwaukee, WI Pay: $25.00 per hour Schedule: 20–40 hours per week Duration: 12 weeks | Starting December 2026 Positions Available: 2

About Acts Housing Acts Housing is a Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening neighborhoods through homeownership. Through our Acts Homes program, we identify and purchase residential properties, oversee their renovation, and make them available to families seeking affordable homeownership opportunities.

About this Opportunity Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes before a home is ready for its next owner? Acts Housing is offering a unique, paid 12-week learning opportunity for individuals interested in exploring real estate, property acquisition, and residential redevelopment.

Working alongside Acts Homes leadership and experienced Construction Managers, you will gain an inside look at the entire process—from evaluating and purchasing properties to planning, coordinating, and completing renovations.

This is an immersive experience that combines time in the office with visits to properties undergoing evaluation and rehabilitation. You will observe real projects, participate in day-to-day activities, and learn how real estate decisions, project budgets, renovation plans, and contractor coordination come together.

No prior construction or real estate experience is required. A college degree is not required. We welcome current students, recent graduates, and individuals interested in exploring a new career path.

What You Will Learn & Do Under the guidance of experienced team members, you will: * Participate in property evaluations and learn how potential acquisitions are analyzed. * Gain exposure to real estate underwriting and property purchase decisions. * Visit homes undergoing renovation and learn how rehabilitation projects are planned and managed. * Assist with documenting property conditions and developing renovation scopes of work. * Learn how contractors are coordinated and how project budgets, schedules, invoices, and costs are tracked. * Assist with project documentation, reporting, and other real estate and construction management activities. * The goal is to provide a well-rounded understanding of how a residential property moves from acquisition through renovation and ultimately becomes a home for a new owner.

Who Should Apply? We are looking for someone who is curious, dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. An interest in real estate, business, finance, property management, construction management, or community development is helpful, but no specific educational background or industry experience is necessary.

Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent * Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills * Basic computer proficiency, including spreadsheets * Willingness to learn and work collaboratively * Interest in Milwaukee neighborhoods and community revitalization * Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus but not required

Schedule & Requirements * 12-week temporary position beginning December 2026 * Flexible schedule of 20–40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, within standard office hours of 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. * Work will take place in the Milwaukee office and at residential properties throughout the area * Regular travel to job sites is required. A valid driver's license and access to a registered, insured vehicle are necessary * Property visits involve walking through homes under renovation, navigating uneven surfaces, and climbing stairs * This temporary position is not eligible for employee benefits

Why Acts Housing? This is an opportunity to see real estate from a perspective most people never experience. You will learn how homes are identified, evaluated, purchased, and transformed into affordable homeownership opportunities while gaining practical exposure to an industry with many potential career paths.

Come learn how we turn houses into homes and help strengthen Milwaukee neighborhoods!
