JOB TITLE: General Facilities Maintenance JOB LOCATION: North Chicago, IL JOB TYPE: Temp to Hire PAY: Starting at $18.00/hour (Depending on Experience) SHIFT AVAILABLE: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
About the General Facilities Maintenance Role:
SMS Staffing is seeking a skilled and dependable General Facilities Maintenance professional to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining and repairing facility equipment, machinery, and building structures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
The ideal candidate will have maintenance and troubleshooting experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while following all safety procedures.
Responsibilities:
* Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment * Troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs * Maintain facility structures, pipe systems, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment * Perform welding and metal cutting as needed * Inspect and test machinery for malfunctions * Keep work areas clean and organized * Follow all safety policies and procedures
Qualification Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent * Ability to read and write English * Basic math and analytical skills * Maintenance and troubleshooting experience * Must have your own basic tools and toolbox

* This is a safety-sensitive position * Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job * May stop unsafe activities and recommend solutions * Multiple levels may be available based on experience
