About the role

Rear pilot car operator (also known as a chase car or rear escort) travels behind an oversized, heavy, or wide load to protect the transport team, warn trailing traffic, and monitor the cargo itself Key Responsibilities

* Rear Traffic Management: Monitor vehicles approaching from behind, gauge the volume of traffic trailing the load, and block or shield lanes to help the oversized load merge or change lanes safely.

* Load & Equipment Monitoring: Keep a close eye on the transport vehicle and trailer to spot load shifting, low or flat tires, loose tie-downs, or falling debris.

* Radio Communication: Maintain constant two-way radio contact with the lead pilot car driver and the main transport truck driver, giving real-time updates on traffic and trailer positioning (such as turn clearances and lane space).

* Safety & Hazard Warning: Use required vehicle markings—including flashing amber warning lights, "Oversize Load" signs, and safety flags—to alert the public and prevent civilian drivers from cutting dangerously close to the trailer.

* Post-Trip Tasks: Complete trip logs, report any roadside incidents or damage, and cover or deactivate warning signs when out of service

Trailer steerman (or tillerman) is responsible for steering the rear axles of specialized, oversized, or articulated heavy-haul trailers to keep the load properly aligned and prevent off tracking. Core Responsibilities * Rear Axle Control: Operate and adjust the rear steering axles of large or articulated/perimeter trailers so the rear stays on course through tight turns, narrow roads, and complex industrial sites.

* Communication: Maintain constant radio communication with the lead truck driver in the cab to coordinate turns, track positioning, and hazard avoidance.

* Escort & Chase Duties: Often act as a chase pilot or operate a follow/steer escort vehicle equipped with warning signs and lights to alert traffic, manage flow, and provide a safety buffer behind the load.

* Site Support & Rigging: Assist with loading and unloading operations, securing freight, checking axle weight distribution, and performing basic mechanical or roadside inspections

Typical Qualifications & Requirements * Mechanical Aptitude:(Not Required, we are willing to train) Experience with hydraulics, dual-lane trailers, multi-axle configurations, and weight distribution * Skills: Strong spatial awareness, clear radio communication, and the ability to work flexible schedules or overtime on heavy-haul projects

Pay- Depending on experience, hourly wage, overtime after 8 daily working hours. Daily per-diem.  all Hotels paid for
