Brand Manager Resume Example (2026)
By FindAJobAI team Updated How we built this page
Brand manager postings read alike: own the P&L, run campaigns, manage agencies, work with sales. What separates applicants is proof that a campaign or a repositioning actually moved the numbers. A brand manager resume should name the brand, the budget and what changed in the market, not just list the responsibilities.
The example below is a brand manager with five years split between a packaged foods company and a smaller beverage brand. Each bullet names the budget or metric involved and the result in the market, instead of describing the job in general terms.

How to write a brand manager resume
Five steps, in the order a recruiter reads the page. The format around them stays plain for every job: one column, standard headings, newest role first.
Header: name, target title and links
Use “Brand Manager” or “Assistant Brand Manager” to match the title on the job ad, and lead with the brand or category you worked in (CPG, beverage, beauty) since hiring managers often want category experience.
Summary: what you do and your best proof
Name the brand or portfolio size you owned, your industry, and one result: a share, volume or trial number your work moved. Skip phrases like "passionate about brands"; name the actual brand work instead.
Experience: newest first, a result in every bullet
Open each bullet with the budget, campaign or launch, then the result in share, volume or sales. Say which data source backs the number (Nielsen, IRI, internal POS) when you cite market share.
Skills: grouped, in the ad's words
Group skills into strategy, marketing execution, data and collaboration. List the syndicated data tools (Nielsen, IRI) and research methods you've used, since many CPG ads name them specifically.
Education and certifications
List your degree with the year, and add any brand or marketing certificate you hold. Without brand management experience, add a Projects section with a positioning or campaign exercise and its outcome.
Skills to put on a brand manager resume
Hard skills are the tools and methods of the job; soft skills are how you work with people. Each comes with one way to prove it, because a skill named only in a list counts for little. Add the ones you really have.
Hard skills
- P&L ownership
- State the brand or portfolio revenue size you owned and one margin or pricing decision you made.
- Brand positioning
- Name a repositioning or launch and the share or trial metric it moved.
- Nielsen/IRI data
- Say what share or distribution question the data answered and the action it led to.
- Pricing and trade strategy
- Give a pricing or promotion decision and its effect on volume or margin.
- Go-to-market planning
- Name the launch's channel count or store count and how it did against its target.
- Agency management
- State the number of agencies, the budget managed and a turnaround or cost result.
- Campaign management
- Tie the campaign to a business metric like trial, share or sales rather than impressions alone.
- Packaging strategy
- Describe a packaging change and the research or sales metric that justified it.
- Consumer research
- Name the research type (tracking study, focus group, survey) and the finding it surfaced.
- Budget management
- State the size of the budget and whether you came in on, under or ahead of it.
- Retail/trade marketing
- Count the retail programs or co-op budgets you managed and the sales result.
- Competitive analysis
- Name the competitors tracked and a decision your analysis changed.
Soft skills
- Cross-functional leadership
- Name the functions (sales, R&D, finance) you aligned on a launch or plan.
- Storytelling
- Describe a brief or presentation that got a campaign approved or redirected.
- Decisiveness
- Give a close call you made under a deadline and what happened after.
- Negotiation
- State a contract or budget you negotiated and the savings or terms won.
- Coaching
- Count the assistant brand managers or coordinators you developed.
- Market curiosity
- Describe a trend or competitor move you flagged before it affected sales.
- Resilience under pressure
- Mention a launch or crisis you managed and how the brand recovered.

Common brand manager resume mistakes
Each one is easy to make and quick to fix before you apply.
Describing campaigns without a business result
"Ran a social campaign" says nothing about impact. Pair every campaign with a share, trial or sales number, even an estimate from available data.
No budget or P&L size stated
Brand manager roles are judged partly by scope. State the revenue or budget you owned, even if it was smaller than the target role.
Vague use of market data
"Analyzed market trends" could mean anything. Name the data source and the specific finding or decision it led to.
Treating agency work as a side task
Managing agencies is often a core part of the job. State the number of agencies, the budget and a turnaround or cost improvement.
Listing creative output instead of strategy
Ads and packaging are outputs, not strategy. Show the positioning or insight behind the creative and what it achieved.
ATS tips for a brand manager resume
Applicant tracking systems turn your file into text that recruiters search, mostly for the skills and titles in the ad. They rarely reject a resume on their own; one that parses badly or misses the ad's words just doesn't come up.
- State the P&L or budget size you owned; brand manager ads almost always ask for P&L or spend accountability.
- Name the data source you used (Nielsen, IRI, internal POS) when citing share or sales numbers.
- Describe campaigns by the business result (share, volume, trial) rather than by creative output like "ran a campaign".
- Mention the number of agencies or vendors you managed and the size of that budget.
- If you led a launch, state the channel count or store count and how the launch did against its target.

Brand Manager resume FAQ
What should a brand manager put on a resume if they haven't owned a P&L yet?
Count any budget you influenced, such as a promotion or local activation spend, and the sales or share metric it moved. Hiring managers look for financial accountability at any scale before full P&L ownership.
How important is Nielsen or IRI experience on a brand manager resume?
It matters for CPG roles specifically. Name the syndicated data source you used and one decision it informed, since many CPG job ads list it as a required tool.
Should a brand manager resume include creative work samples?
A short portfolio link with 2-3 campaigns and their results helps, but the resume itself should state the business outcome; let the portfolio show the creative.
