Warehouse Manager Resume Example (2026)

By FindAJobAI team Updated How we built this page

Warehouse manager job ads ask for the same core: inventory accuracy, safety compliance, labor scheduling and a WMS. What separates candidates is evidence that the building ran better under them. A warehouse manager resume should say how many staff and square footage you ran, and what changed in throughput, cost or incident rate.

The example below is a warehouse manager with six years across a regional distributor and a 3PL. Notice how each bullet names the metric, the size of the operation and the result, instead of just listing duties like "managed warehouse operations."

How to write a warehouse manager resume

Five steps, in the order a recruiter reads the page. The format around them stays plain for every job: one column, standard headings, newest role first.

  1. Header: name, target title and links

Use the title "Warehouse Manager" even if yours was Operations Supervisor or DC Manager, and state the facility's square footage and headcount near the top. Recruiters scan for scale fast.

  2. Summary: what you do and your best proof

Name your years of experience, the facility size and headcount you ran, and one measurable result such as inventory accuracy, cost savings or safety record. Skip lines like "hardworking leader"; they say nothing about the building you ran.

  3. Experience: newest first, a result in every bullet

Open each bullet with the scope (facility size, headcount, daily volume), then the action and the result. "Managed daily operations" tells a hiring manager nothing; "ran a 280,000 sq ft facility shipping 9,800 orders a day" tells them everything.

  4. Skills: grouped, in the ad's words

Group into operations, systems, safety and leadership. Name the specific WMS and any safety certifications by title; generic terms like "inventory management" get skipped by both ATS and humans scanning fast.

  5. Education and certifications

List your degree or relevant certificate with the year. Forklift certification, OSHA training or Lean Six Sigma belts matter more here than in most office roles, so give them their own line if you have them.

Skills to put on a warehouse manager resume

Hard skills are the tools and methods of the job; soft skills are how you work with people. Each comes with one way to prove it, because a skill named only in a list counts for little. Add the ones you really have.

Hard skills

WMS proficiency
Name the system (SAP EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder) and what you configured or rolled out in it.
Inventory accuracy
Give the before-and-after percentage and the process change that closed the gap.
Cycle counting
State how often you audited and what error rate the counts turned up or prevented.
Labor scheduling
Tie a schedule change to a cost or service result, such as overtime cut or on-time rate.
Safety compliance
Give incident counts before and after a program, not just "maintained a safe workplace."
Forklift certification programs
Say how many operators you certified or trained and whether incidents dropped.
Dock scheduling
Mention trailers or pallets handled per day and how you cut wait or dock-to-stock time.
Slotting and layout
Name the SKUs or zones you reslotted and the pick-time or travel reduction it produced.
Receiving and putaway
Give the inbound volume you managed and an accuracy or speed improvement.
Labor budgeting
State the budget size you owned and a percentage or dollar reduction you delivered.
Returns processing
Give processing time before and after, and any recovered inventory value.
Carrier and vendor coordination
Name a contract or process change and its cost impact.

Soft skills

Floor presence
Describe a peak-season or high-pressure period you managed and how the team performed.
Team leadership
Give the headcount and shifts you led, and one retention or performance result.
Training and onboarding
Count new hires trained and how fast they reached full productivity.
Cross-functional coordination
Name the departments or clients you coordinated with and what that unlocked.
Problem-solving under pressure
Describe an operational failure you caught or fixed before it caused a missed shipment.
Communication
Mention a report or dashboard you built that kept leadership or clients informed.
Change management
Describe a system or process rollout you led and how smoothly it went.

Warehouse Manager resume bullet examples: weak vs strong

The same work, written two ways. The strong version names the tool, the scope and a result; the numbers are examples, yours must be real.

  1. Weak: Managed warehouse operations.

Strong: Ran daily operations for a 280,000 sq ft distribution center with 45 associates, shipping an average of 9,800 orders a day.

Size of the facility, headcount and daily volume replace a vague duty.

  2. Weak: Improved inventory accuracy.

Strong: Raised cycle-count inventory accuracy from 94% to 99.3% over 10 months by retraining pickers on a scan-first process.

Before-and-after numbers plus the specific fix.

  3. Weak: Responsible for safety.

Strong: Cut recordable safety incidents from 11 to 3 in a year by adding daily forklift checks and a near-miss reporting system.

A safety claim turned into a measured outcome and the program behind it.

  4. Weak: Supervised staff.

Strong: Supervised 20 associates on receiving and putaway, handling 1,200 inbound pallets a week across 14 retail clients.

Headcount, workload and client scale show the span of control.

  5. Weak: Reduced costs.

Strong: Rebuilt shift schedules around hourly order volume, cutting overtime spend by $110,000 a year while keeping on-time shipping above 98%.

Names the lever pulled and the dollar result, with no drop in service.

  6. Weak: Trained employees on new system.

Strong: Managed the switch to a new WMS, training 45 staff over 3 weeks and finishing with no shipments missed.

Scope, timeline and the risk avoided during the change.

Common warehouse manager resume mistakes

Each one is easy to make and quick to fix before you apply.

  1. No facility size or headcount given

A warehouse manager role at a 50,000 sq ft facility with 8 staff is a different job than one at 500,000 sq ft with 150. State both so the scope is clear.

  2. Safety described without numbers

"Maintained a safe work environment" could mean anything. Give incident counts before and after a program, or days without a recordable injury.

  3. Duties listed instead of results

"Responsible for inventory control" describes the job description, not your performance. Say what your inventory accuracy rate was and how you got there.

  4. WMS experience left vague

"Experienced with warehouse systems" could mean anything from spreadsheets to SAP. Name the system and what you configured, reported on or migrated.

  5. Cost savings claimed without a baseline

"Reduced costs" needs a before-and-after number to mean anything to a hiring manager comparing candidates. Give the dollar amount and the lever you pulled.

ATS tips for a warehouse manager resume

Applicant tracking systems turn your file into text that recruiters search, mostly for the skills and titles in the ad. They rarely reject a resume on their own; one that parses badly or misses the ad's words just doesn't come up.

  • Name the WMS you used (SAP EWM, Manhattan, Blue Yonder); most ads ask for a specific system.
  • Give the facility's square footage and headcount you managed; size tells a recruiter what the job actually involved.
  • State your inventory accuracy rate and safety incident numbers if you tracked them; these are the metrics hiring managers compare across candidates.
  • Mention shift structure (number of shifts, peak season staffing) rather than just "managed warehouse staff."
  • List forklift, OSHA or other safety certifications by name; some postings require them to even schedule an interview.

Warehouse Manager resume FAQ

What should a warehouse manager put at the top of a resume?

A summary with years of experience, facility size, headcount managed and one or two measurable results, such as inventory accuracy or cost savings. Skip generic lines about being a "team player."

How do I show safety record on a warehouse manager resume?

Give the actual numbers: incidents per year before and after a program you ran, or days without a recordable injury. A specific safety claim carries more weight than "safety-focused."

Do I need WMS experience to get a warehouse manager job?

Most postings expect it, but naming any WMS you've used (even a different one than the employer's) shows you can learn systems quickly. Pair it with what you did in it, not just that you touched it.
