.NET Developer Resume Example (2026)
By FindAJobAI team Updated How we built this page
.NET developer postings usually list C#, ASP.NET Core, SQL Server and some cloud platform, then ask for a resume that proves you can ship and maintain real systems, not just name the stack. The strongest bullets name the system, the problem it had, and what changed after your work.
The example below has six years split between a logistics company and a healthcare software vendor. Each bullet names the service, the language or framework and a result a teammate or customer would recognize, instead of listing responsibilities.

Mid-level .NET developer resume example
A complete one-page example for a fictional .NET developer: every bullet pairs an action with what changed because of it.

How to write a .NET developer resume
Five steps, in the order a recruiter reads the page. The format around them stays plain for every job: one column, standard headings, newest role first.
Header: name, target title and links
Use the title ".NET Developer" even if your title was Software Engineer or Application Developer, since both appear in ads for the same work, and add a GitHub link if you have public or sample code.
Summary: what you do and your best proof
Name your .NET version, the kind of systems you build, and one concrete result, like a migration completed or a latency number improved. Skip phrases like "strong problem-solving skills" that say nothing specific.
Experience: newest first, a result in every bullet
Open each bullet with the system or feature, then the language or framework, then the measurable result: a response time, a bug count, hours saved. A list of technologies with no outcome reads like a job description, not a resume.
Skills: grouped, in the ad's words
Group by language, framework, data layer and cloud or DevOps tools. List the .NET version and the specific Azure or AWS services you've used instead of just writing "cloud experience".
Education and certifications
List your degree with the year. Without professional .NET experience, add a Projects section with one or two apps that name the stack and what the app actually does for a real or test user.
Skills to put on a .NET developer resume
Hard skills are the tools and methods of the job; soft skills are how you work with people. Each comes with one way to prove it, because a skill named only in a list counts for little. Add the ones you really have.
Hard skills
- C#
- Point to a service or feature you wrote in it and the scale it ran at, like requests per day.
- ASP.NET Core
- Name the kind of API or app (REST, Blazor) and who or what consumed it.
- Entity Framework Core
- Mention a query or migration you tuned and the speed or correctness issue it fixed.
- SQL Server
- Show a stored procedure, index or query you optimized with the before and after run time.
- Azure
- Name the specific service (App Service, AKS, Service Bus) and what it replaced or enabled.
- xUnit or NUnit
- Give a coverage number or a bug count caught before release.
- Docker
- Describe what you containerized and what deploying it that way fixed, like environment drift.
- Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
- Describe the pipeline you built and the manual process or time it replaced.
- Blazor or WPF
- Name the app it powers and who uses it, since many ads are specific about which UI stack.
- LINQ
- Mention a query you simplified or sped up using it over manual loops.
- Redis
- Name what you cached and the load or latency reduction it produced.
- Microservices architecture
- Give the number of services split from a monolith and one reason, like deploy speed or scaling.
Soft skills
- Code review
- Mention how many pull requests you review weekly and an issue your review caught.
- Debugging under pressure
- Describe a production issue you diagnosed and how fast you resolved it.
- Mentoring
- Count the developers you mentored and what role or skill they grew into.
- Cross-team communication
- Name a team you coordinated with on an API contract or shared service.
- Technical writing
- Point to a design doc or runbook you wrote and who uses it.
- Incident response
- Describe an outage you helped resolve and the change that prevented a repeat.
- Prioritization
- Show how you balanced feature work against technical debt on a sprint or quarter.
.NET Developer resume bullet examples: weak vs strong
The same work, written two ways. The strong version names the tool, the scope and a result; the numbers are examples, yours must be real.
Weak: Developed APIs in ASP.NET Core.
Strong: Built an ASP.NET Core API for warehouse inventory lookups that replaced a nightly batch job, giving 30 floor staff live stock counts instead of yesterday's.
Names the system it replaced and who benefits.
Weak: Worked with SQL Server.
Strong: Rewrote a SQL Server stored procedure doing nightly order aggregation, cutting its run time from 50 minutes to 4 by removing a cursor loop.
Shows the specific fix and the time saved.
Weak: Fixed bugs in the application.
Strong: Traced an intermittent checkout failure to a race condition in async order processing, fixing it and ending a bug that had caused 200 support tickets a month.
Shows diagnosis, not just repair, with a measurable impact.
Weak: Responsible for code reviews.
Strong: Reviewed every pull request on a 5-person team for 2 years, catching 3 security issues before release including one SQL injection path.
Turns a duty into a concrete outcome.
Weak: Improved application performance.
Strong: Added Redis caching in front of a product-catalog endpoint called 2 million times a day, cutting database load by 60% during peak hours.
Specific technique, specific scale, specific result.
Weak: Migrated legacy systems.
Strong: Migrated a .NET Framework 4.8 monolith's reporting module to .NET 8, removing the last dependency that had blocked a planned Windows Server upgrade.
States the blocker removed, not just the migration.

Two or three lines on what you do and your strongest proof. Start from the one closest to your level and use your own facts.

Common .NET developer resume mistakes
Each one is easy to make and quick to fix before you apply.
Framework names with no system behind them
ASP.NET Core and EF Core in Skills say what you can use; a bullet naming the system you built with them says what you've actually done.
Not naming the .NET version
"Experience with .NET" covers Framework 4.5 through .NET 8. State the version so recruiters and ATS filters can match you to the right ads.
Describing bug fixes with no cause or result
"Fixed bugs" could mean anything. Name the bug's symptom, what caused it, and what changed once it was fixed.
Treating all backend work as equal
An internal admin tool and a public API serving millions of requests are different kinds of work. State the scale or audience so the resume reflects the real stakes.
No testing mentioned
Many .NET teams expect unit tests as part of the job, not an extra. A coverage number or a bug caught by a test shows you write code that's meant to last.
ATS tips for a .NET developer resume
Applicant tracking systems turn your file into text that recruiters search, mostly for the skills and titles in the ad. They rarely reject a resume on their own; one that parses badly or misses the ad's words just doesn't come up.
- Name the .NET version (Framework 4.8, .NET 6, .NET 8); ads often filter on it and it signals how current your experience is.
- List the cloud platform you deploy to (Azure, AWS) alongside ASP.NET Core; most .NET roles pair the two.
- Describe a migration or refactor by what it unblocked or sped up, not just that it happened.
- Mention your testing stack (xUnit, NUnit, MSTest) and a coverage or bug-count change if you have one.
- If you work with Blazor or WPF, name the UI framework specifically rather than writing "front-end work".
For the format itself, run the free ATS resume checklist.

.NET Developer resume FAQ
What should a .NET developer resume include besides C#?
SQL Server or another relational database, ASP.NET Core, a testing framework like xUnit, and a cloud platform such as Azure. Show each tied to a system you built or fixed, not just listed.
Should I mention .NET Framework or only .NET Core and .NET 5+?
Mention both if you have them. Many employers still run .NET Framework systems alongside newer ones, and experience migrating between them is valuable on its own.
How do I show backend work without a public portfolio?
Describe the internal systems you built or maintained by their purpose and audience, such as a billing tool or an inventory API, since most .NET work isn't public-facing anyway.
How we built this page
The FindAJobAI team wrote the three example resumes, the bullets, the skills and the advice for .NET developer roles. The people, employers and numbers in the examples are invented; the structure, the tools and the way each bullet is built are the parts to copy.
Once we track enough live .NET developer job ads, this page also shows the skills they ask for most, counted the same way as our in-demand skills report.
