Frontend Developer Resume Example (2026)

By FindAJobAI team Updated How we built this page

Frontend hiring managers look for three things: the framework and language they use, proof you care about performance and accessibility, and work they can open in a browser. A frontend developer resume should give all three in the first half page.

The example below is a frontend developer with five years in React and TypeScript who started in graphic design. Note how each bullet names a metric users feel, such as load time or task completion, rather than listing pages built.

How to write a frontend developer resume

Five steps, in the order a recruiter reads the page. The format around them stays plain for every job: one column, standard headings, newest role first.

  1. Header: name, target title and links

Put your portfolio and GitHub as plain URLs next to your email, and use the ad's title (Frontend Developer, Frontend Engineer, UI Engineer). A reviewer should reach your live work in one click.

  2. Summary: what you do and your best proof

Name your framework and language, the kind of product (e-commerce, SaaS, media) and one result users felt, such as faster pages or higher conversion.

  3. Experience: newest first, a result in every bullet

Lead each bullet with what users got (a faster page, an accessible form, a new flow) and follow with the tools and the number. Keep shipped product work apart from internal tooling.

  4. Skills: grouped, in the ad's words

Group languages, frameworks, testing, and practices such as accessibility and performance. Spell tools as the ad does (Next.js, not NextJS) so searches match.

  5. Education and certifications

A degree, a bootcamp or a self-taught path all work; list the credential with its year. A strong portfolio project counts as much as the credential, so give it a line under Projects.

Skills to put on a frontend developer resume

Hard skills are the tools and methods of the job; soft skills are how you work with people. Each comes with one way to prove it, because a skill named only in a list counts for little. Add the ones you really have.

Hard skills

TypeScript
Show typed code in a bullet, such as a migration to strict mode and the bugs it caught.
React
Name components or features you built and who uses them.
Next.js
Mention a rendering choice (static, server or client) and its effect on speed or search traffic.
Semantic HTML
Point to accessibility or SEO results that clean markup made possible.
CSS and Tailwind CSS
Mention responsive layouts or a theme system you built, and across how many screens.
Accessibility (WCAG)
Name the standard, how you tested (axe, keyboard, screen readers) and the audit result.
Web performance
Quote Core Web Vitals or bundle size before and after your work.
State and data fetching
Name the tool (Redux Toolkit, React Query, Zustand) and the problem it solved.
Frontend testing
List Jest, Playwright or React Testing Library with the regressions they caught.
Design systems
Give the component count and how many teams or screens use them.
Build tooling
Mention Vite, webpack or Turbopack work that cut build or load time.
API integration
Show REST or GraphQL data work, including loading, empty and error states.

Soft skills

Eye for detail
Mention a visual or interaction issue you caught before users did.
Working with designers
Show a design you refined together with a designer and the result it shipped with.
User empathy
Point to a usability finding you fixed and the change it made.
Communication
Mention a demo, doc or RFC that won agreement on a frontend change.
Mentoring
Count the developers you reviewed or paired with.
Product thinking
Tie a UI change to a conversion or task-completion number.

Frontend Developer resume bullet examples: weak vs strong

The same work, written two ways. The strong version names the tool, the scope and a result; the numbers are examples, yours must be real.

  1. Weak: Developed UI components in React.

Strong: Built a reusable date-range picker in React and TypeScript that replaced 4 inconsistent versions across the app and passed a screen-reader audit.

Shows reuse, consolidation and accessibility, not just the framework name.

  2. Weak: Made the website faster.

Strong: Lazy-loaded below-the-fold images and self-hosted fonts, cutting mobile LCP on the home page from 3.6 s to 2.0 s.

Names the techniques and the Core Web Vitals metric hiring managers look for.

  3. Weak: Worked closely with designers.

Strong: Turned the Figma designs into a token-based theme with the design team, so a brand refresh shipped across 80 screens in one release.

Collaboration shown through a shared result and its scale.

  4. Weak: Wrote tests.

Strong: Added React Testing Library tests for the checkout form's 12 validation rules, which caught a broken postcode check before a holiday sale.

One real catch is more convincing than a coverage claim.

  5. Weak: Responsible for accessibility.

Strong: Led fixes for 140 WCAG 2.1 AA issues, adding focus states and ARIA labels, which cleared a customer's procurement accessibility review.

Links accessibility work to the business outcome it unlocked.

  6. Weak: Built responsive pages.

Strong: Rebuilt the account area mobile-first with CSS grid, lifting mobile task completion in usability tests from 64% to 88%.

Responsive design proven by a user-facing measure, not the buzzword.

Common frontend developer resume mistakes

Each one is easy to make and quick to fix before you apply.

  1. A designed resume that won't parse

Columns, icons and graphics please people and confuse applicant tracking systems. Keep the resume plain and let the portfolio show your visual work.

  2. Pages built instead of results

“Built 30 pages” describes volume, not value. Name what users got: load time, completion rate, an accessibility score.

  3. No performance or accessibility evidence

These two set strong frontend candidates apart. Give each at least one bullet, with the metric or the standard.

  4. Dead or private portfolio links

Click every link before you apply, and include the password if a project needs one.

  5. Every JavaScript library you've used

A long list buries the core skills the ad asks for. Keep the framework, language, testing tools and the few libraries you know well.

ATS tips for a frontend developer resume

Applicant tracking systems turn your file into text that recruiters search, mostly for the skills and titles in the ad. They rarely reject a resume on their own; one that parses badly or misses the ad's words just doesn't come up.

  • Write "React", "TypeScript" and "Next.js" the way ads spell them, and avoid relying on abbreviations like "TS" that a recruiter's search won't match.
  • Name performance work by its metric (LCP, INP, CLS, bundle size); frontend ads increasingly mention Core Web Vitals.
  • Put your portfolio and GitHub as plain URLs in the header. A recruiter can't click an icon the parser turned into nothing.
  • Keep the resume plain even if you're a strong visual developer: one column, no text inside images. Show visual skill in the portfolio.
  • If you've done accessibility work, name the standard (WCAG 2.1 AA) and how you tested (axe, keyboard, screen readers).

Frontend Developer resume FAQ

Should a frontend developer resume have a portfolio link?

Yes. For frontend roles, live work or a repository is often the first thing a hiring manager opens. Pick 2–3 projects that load fast and work on mobile; one polished project beats ten tutorial clones.

How creative should a frontend developer resume look?

Clean, not creative. Fancy layouts often parse badly in applicant tracking systems. Keep the resume a plain single-column document and let your portfolio show visual skill.

What should a frontend developer list under skills?

Languages (TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS), your main framework and its ecosystem, testing tools, and practices such as accessibility and performance. List only what you've used in real work or substantial projects.

How we built this page

The FindAJobAI team wrote the three example resumes, the bullets, the skills and the advice for frontend developer roles. The people, employers and numbers in the examples are invented; the structure, the tools and the way each bullet is built are the parts to copy.

The live skills section is based on 452 frontend developer job ads analysed, the newest we track, with the same deterministic skill matcher as our in-demand skills report: no AI model reads the postings. It was last computed on November 2, 2026 and refreshes daily.
